Much like Naruto in his early days, Boruto Uzumaki craved attention, and his father's responsibilities kept them apart. Boruto's respect for his father was shaken, but since then, the two have rebuilt their relationship and the Seventh Hokage has earned his son's respect in more ways than one.

7 When Naruto Became The Hokage Of The Hidden Leaf Village

Naruto as Hokage

Naruto's rise to the position of the Hokage came years after the birth of his kids, which means both Himawari and Boruto got to spend quite a lot of time with their father prior to that. For any child, watching their parent become the Hokage of the village would be a special moment.

While Boruto didn't realize Naruto rising to the position of Hokage would cause problems down the line, it's safe to say that he was proud of his father for achieving his dreams and greatly respected him. Unfortunately, Naruto's increased responsibilities from that point on prevented him from spending time with his son.

6 When Naruto Defended The Village From Kinshiki And Momoshiki's Attack

Boruto Uzumaki believed that anybody was able to do what his father did by sitting in an office behind a desk, but his opinion changed dramatically when Kinshiki and Momoshiki Otsutsuki came to Konohagakure in search of the massive source of chakra that was the Nine-Tails.

The two started to destroy the village, and had it not been for Naruto Uzumaki, they certainly would have succeeded. To protect everyone, Naruto created a bubble using the Nine-Tails' chakra and endured all the damage by himself. He gave himself up to save everyone — and this is exactly when Boruto realized what his father becoming the Hokage truly meant.

While Boruto often acted like a brat in the early arcs of the series, it was mostly because he wanted his father's attention. Boruto's childhood was similar to Naruto's; despite having a father, he felt as if he didn't have one. Naruto's responsibilities as the Hokage were undoubtedly overwhelming, however, he ended up neglecting his family completely as a result.

After the fight against Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Naruto finally realized where he went wrong and promised to spend more time with his son and actually watch him grow. In return, Boruto asked him to tell stories from the olden days, rebuilding their relationship in the process.

What's more, despite being nerfed due to fighting in the village and having kids around him, Naruto was able to control the fight against Delta entirely, proving his battle experience. Watching his father completely lead Delta away from them and eventually win, Boruto couldn't help but be amazed at how strong he truly was.

2 When He Fought Jigen, The Leader Of Kara, For Kawaki's Sake

Jigen in Boruto

Jigen was once the leader of Kara and he made his first move shortly after Naruto's fight against Delta. Targeting Kawaki, Jigen set his eyes on Konohagakure but was stopped by none other than Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage. The latter managed to protect Kawaki and ended up going to a different dimension to take Jigen on in battle.

Joined by Sasuke, the two fought a gruesome battle but sadly lost. Boruto, realizing that his father fought for the sake of a child he adopted just weeks ago, definitely gained more respect for him.

1 When He Fought Isshiki Otsutsuki And Used Baryon Mode

Naruto Uzumaki reached the pinnacle of strength in his fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki when he tapped into the power of the Baryon Mode. By using Kurama and his own chakra as raw materials to be consumed for attaining greater chakra, Naruto gained this new power. Using this form, Naruto's power far surpassed that of Isshiki Otsutsuki, and what's more, every single strike from him made Isshiki weaker as it drained his chakra and shortened his lifespan.

Thanks to Naruto's efforts, Isshiki was eventually defeated at the cost of Kurama's life. Watching his father surpass the likes of Isshiki Otsutsuki would certainly have evoked even deeper respect from Boruto Uzumaki, as it did in the likes of Kawaki and even Naruto's old rival, Sasuke Uchiha.
