The conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War saw many characters rise to new positions. While some were made Kage of their respective villages, others, especially Naruto's main generation of shinobi, worked towards the goal of becoming Jonin.

Consequently, these shinobi went on to become crucial to the proper functioning of their villages, took over the positions of importance, and made sure to lead the next generation. Unfortunately, not every character got to become a Jonin and to this day, some of the characters who were Chunin during the Naruto series still hold the rank.

10 BECAME JONIN: Sakura Haruno

Throughout most of the Naruto series, Sakura Haruno was a Chunin. After the Fourth Great Ninja War ended, at some point, Sakura was promoted to the rank of Jonin and thus, became one of the most authoritative people in the village.

Aside from rising to the position of Jonin, Sakura also made sure to oversee the medical department of Konohagakure. She is the most capable medical ninja not only in Konoha but the entire world.

9 CHUNIN: Hinata Hyuga

Hinata is one of the most capable ninjas in the Naruto series and with the power of the Byakugan, she's ferocious in combat. While she is great at fighting, she decided to retire as a shinobi and take care of the household after getting married to Naruto, which didn't happen too long after the end of the war.

There is no known source that indicates that Hinata rose to the rank of a Jonin and thus, the highest ninja rank that she has right now is that of a Chunin.

8 BECAME JONIN: Shikamaru Nara

Shikamaru was one of the very first people to rise to the position of Chunin back during the first part of the Naruto series. He would've been made Jonin sooner as well, however, his duties often became a hindrance for him and kept him from progressing further.

After the Fourth Great Ninja War, nonetheless, Shikamaru eventually became a Jonin and served as the advisor to both Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage, and Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage.

7 CHUNIN: Kiba Inuzuka

Kiba is a member of the Inuzuka clan and was once a very intriguing character. Unfortunately, over the years, he lost all his importance in the story, as did most of the side characters.

Kiba is one of the characters who, for some reason, didn't get to become Jonin even after the war ended. Although he is actively seen on missions, no indication of his rise from a Chunin to Jonin has been given so far. Right now, he remains to be one of the Chunin.

6  BECAME JONIN: Hanabi Hyuga

Hanabi was hardly ever focused on in Naruto, however, she was hyped up to be a prodigious child by the members of the Hyuga clan. She was often compared to the likes of Neji Hyuga, who was a genius as well.

After the war and into the Boruto era, Hanabi has now become a full-fledged Jonin and she leads Team 15 of Konohagakure. Her skills as a Jonin are invaluable to the village and fans are hoping to see more of her in the future.

5 CHUNIN: Choji

Another active shinobi of Konohagakure, Choji is often seen on missions away from the village and despite being a highly respected elder, he doesn't seem to be among the Jonin. His status as of now remains to be that of a Chunin.

That's not to say that he is weak, however. Choji is an extremely capable ninja who is considered to be worthy of leading the Akimichi clan and succeeding Choza. He may be a Chunin but he's certainly far stronger than an average Jonin.

4 BECAME JONIN: Rock Lee

Rock Lee has always been one of Konoha's very strongest shinobi and after the end of the story, he's progressed by leaps and bounds. Like some of his friends, Lee ended up rising to the position of Jonin.

In terms of combat ability, he's now learned how to utilize all the Eight Inner Gates, making him one of the strongest characters in the entire story. It goes without saying that Lee's skill is far above the level of an average Jonin or even an average Kage.

3 CHUNIN: Tenten

Tenten is one of the many underutilized characters in the Naruto series. After the first part wrapped up, she took the Chunin Exams in Sunagakure and was promoted to the rank of Chunin.

However, her progress after that seems to have halted. Although she's had her moments here and there in the series after that, she was mostly on the sidelines tending to other obligations outside of ninja missions. Much like Hinata, her rank is still that of a Chunin.

2 BECAME JONIN: Konohamaru

Konohamaru was once a member of Team Ebisu and partnered with Moegi and Udon. With the aim of becoming Hokage, it was inevitable for him to rise through the ranks. Currently, he's one of the main characters of the Boruto anime and holds the position of Jonin.

Konohamaru leads Team 7, which includes Boruto Uzumaki, Sarada Uchiha, and Mitsuki. In the future, he is a likely candidate to rise to the rank of Kage.

1 CHUNIN: Ino Yamanaka

Ino is a member of Team 10 who, unlike most side characters, got to play some role in the second half of the Naruto series. During the fight against Kakuzu and Hidan, Ino was essential for the Konoha shinobi to win and in the Fourth Great Ninja War, she proved herself a capable sensory ninja.

Despite all that, Ino still holds the rank of a Chunin for some reason. She may have been promoted to the rank of Jonin, however, no confirmation of that has ever ever been given to the fans.
