There is a striking difference between hating a character and loving to hate them. Many of Boruto's primary players have quirks or nagging faults. For example, Boruto Uzumaki is obnoxiously arrogant, while Cho-Cho Akimichi is guilty of poor prioritization. Whether they are protagonists with attitude problems, deuteragonists who manipulate the heroes, or villains who threaten the Hidden Leaf village's safety, fans love to hate some characters.

11 Himawari Uzumaki Can Be Spoiled

Himawari awakens her Byakugan in Boruto

While fans have yet to see much of Himawari, Boruto's little sister, they're aware she inherited the Byakugan. Jealousy over this situation ate at Boruto, as the ocular jutsu was extremely powerful. It was not Himawari's fault that the dōjutsu skipped Boruto, but she was a jerk, using it against him when she didn't get her way. Himawari and Hinata were similar in sharing a surprising temper.

Though some viewers might give Himawari a pass due to her age, many fans find her annoying and spoiled. Still, fans could say the same thing about her brother.

10 Denki Kaminarimon Has No Direction

Denki Kaminarimon frowning

Denki Kaminarimon was the son of a wealthy businessman who popularized the trading-card game that took up so much of the children's time. Denki wanted to be a shinobi, but other than technical knowledge, his skills were few and far between. He almost gave up being a shinobi, but Boruto believed in him.

Denki was lucky that scientific ninja tools became such an integral part of the show, as he finally had a reason to be a shinobi. However, his character felt directionless, unbelievable, and weak, making fans love to hate him.

9 Inojin Yamanaka Is Stuck Up

Inojin Yamanaka using Super Beast Scroll

Inojin Yamanaka is a next-generation shinobi with misplaced priorities. At the beginning of the series, he struggled between dedicating himself to the Super Beast Scroll technique or the Mind Transfer Jutsu. Inojin loved art but was not as strong as his teammates. In addition, he lost to Himawari Uzumaki in an art contest and gave up art.

Furthermore, he inherited Ino Yamanaka's arrogance and Sai's rudeness. Fans love to hate Inojin because he was mean to his friends, couldn't back up his hubris, and was quick to quit when faced with adversity.

8 Cho-Cho Akimichi Is Shallow

ChoCho using partial expansion jutsu

Cho-Cho Akimichi was too preoccupied with romance and aesthetics, which led her to neglect her shinobi duties. Cho-Cho had misplaced priorities, and her dedication was in constant question. In addition, she failed to focus on the series' dire moments. Instead, she was obsessed with boys, which put her team in danger.

Some fans hated that the show boiled her character down to vanity, while others found her too gimmicky. Regardless of the reason, fans love to hate Cho-Cho, and she has yet to prove herself. She's one of the strongest next-generation shinobi, so there's no excuse.

7 Naruto Uzumaki Is Neglects His Family

Naruto Uzumaki was the protagonist of Naruto and Naruto: Shippūden, but he lost his edge by Boruto. Part of his fall from grace was precipitated by his negligence, as he failed to be a good father and husband. On top of that, he lost a great deal of his power.

Naruto couldn't seem to catch a break, and during his fight with Isshiki, he lost Kurama. This tragedy dramatically decreased his chakra level. While Naruto retained some powers after Kurama's death, he was not what he used to be. He garnered fans' hate for treating his family poorly, and he no longer has the strength to make up for it.

6 Sarada Uchiha Is The New Sakura

Sarada Uchiha from Boruto

Like Sakura Haruno, Sarada Uchiha acted like a "know it all," and she frustrated fans. That was not the only issue fans took with her character. She couldn't unlock the Sharingan's full potential, and thus audiences felt she was underpowered. Furthermore, she wasn't grateful for her mother's presence and took her for granted. Sarada ruined her likability by accusing Sakura of not being her biological mother.

Even though she was an Uchiha, she was the weakest member of her team, letting many viewers down. Fans scoff at her for her arrogance plus her relative lack of power.

5 Konohamaru Sarutobi Was Not Unique

Boruto's Konohamaru Sarutobi using Rasengan

Konohamaru Sarutobi was Team Seven's sensei, replacing Kakashi Hatake. Unfortunately, he was much less effective than Kakashi, lacking many of the versatile jutsu that made the Copy Ninja famous.

Konohamaru also failed to keep his team safe during the Cursed Seal Arc, considered one of the best early Boruto arcs. He lost again when they fought Ao, and Team Seven had to correct his shortcomings more than once. Konohamaru relied on the Rasengan too often, and his attack patterns were far more predictable than Kakashi's. Fans love to hate Konohamaru for his ineffectiveness and poor leadership.

4 Gaara's Adult Design Was Disappointing

Boruto's Gaara

Fans loved Gaara, but that all changed when they saw his Boruto redesign. In Naruto, Gaara was famous for his spiky red hair, edgy eyeliner, and the trademark kanji symbol (love) on his forehead.

Unfortunately, the show traded his coolness for goofiness, as his new appearance completely changed his aesthetic. Though they may do it playfully, fans love to hate on him for his ridiculous glow down. Compared to the rest of the Naruto kids' new designs for Boruto, Gaara's was one of the worst, and it sparked meme after meme.

3 Boruto Uzumaki Was Arrogant And Self-Centered

2 Adult Boruto

After so many years of watching Naruto's overwhelming optimism and selflessness, fans were taken aback by Boruto's personality. His arrogance and entitlement made sense, as he was the most powerful shinobi in existence's son. Yet, even Boruto's closest friends weren't safe from his selfishness.

Boruto made many mistakes: He cheated against his closest friend in the Chunin Exams, disregarded his teammates' feelings, and ignored rules without considering the impact on others. His behavior proved him a spoiled, untrustworthy, and self-important shinobi. Fans love to hate Boruto because he acted differently from his father and was a jerk to his comrades.

1 Katasuke Tōno Sparked A Lot Of Issues

Team 7 and Katasuke

Katasuke Tōno was an inventor who was directly responsible for many of the scientific ninja tools in the Hidden Leaf village. He even created the device Boruto used to cheat in the Chunin Exams. That was why fans love to hate Katasuke.

Not only did he manipulate Boruto into cheating in the Chunin Exams to show off his invention, but he also kicked off one of the most senseless changes from Naruto to Boruto, as the introduction of scientific ninja tools made the series feel more science-fiction based.
