The following contains spoilers for Chapter 76 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, "A Girls' Sanctuary," by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.

As the Boruto manga continues, the teens are finding themselves in perilous territory at home in Konoha. Boruto and Kawaki moved into a safehouse with Eida, fully aware that her little brother Daemon could kill them. It's their job, though, to pacify the siblings and ensure no trouble pops off, all so the Hidden Leaf can keep Eida as an ally for when Code comes.

Shikamaru has concerns with this plan, especially regarding Amado's revelations with Kawaki's body and the origin of Shibai Ōtsutsuki. Everything simply feels like a powder keg waiting to explode, which is why he's hoping the teens can keep Eida in check. However, come Chapter 76, Shikamaru gets a major advantage when two shinobi turn out to be weapons he can use against Eida.

Apart from her god's eye, Eida has the power to entrance folks, making them fall in love with her. This already left half the Hidden Leaf's teams brainwashed, but thankfully, Boruto (who's manifesting Momoshiki again) and Kawaki's alien DNA make them impervious. Still, Daemon's keeping a close eye on the guys because with his reflective attacks, he can take them out if they so much as think nasty thoughts.

However, Sarada and Sumire turn out to be inadvertent Trojan horses when Eida asks them over for a girls' night. It's a slumber party as she tells them how much she wants Kawaki to be her soulmate, but as the Konoha-nin communicate telepathically, they realize they aren't under the love spell. Seeing as no one knows the truth, Sumire quietly lets Sarada know they need to keep this a secret, and fake being entranced, as they could become infiltrators, able to kill an Eida that's distracted by her own heart.

Shikamaru Plays a Dangerous Game With Eida

Shikamaru enters the conversation right after, getting the news about them resisting the spell. He's ecstatic as this is the opening he's been searching for all this time. He fully endorses keeping things mum, waiting to strike when the iron's hot as he just doesn't trust Eida. As Naruto's advisor, Shikamaru has to come up with contingency plans outside of Amado's purvey, so it's not surprising he wants to use the girls as his trump card right now.

The problem is, if Eida's clairvoyance tunes her in to some attack from these plants in the future -- as her power is so vague and tough to gauge -- she could be playing a game of entrapment. She's good at manipulating, so Shikamaru and the teens may be her pawns without even knowing. Eida does love to test people, their faith in her, and if she can trust them, so Sarada and Sumire will need to be careful as this Boruto arc continues.

Ultimately, it's a risky, treacherous game against enemies who can murder them in the blink of an eye, so Shikamaru will have to monitor closely to see if it's truly smart to leave the girls in the lion's den like this.
