The following contains spoilers for Chapter 73 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, "A Special Mission," by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto, Mari Morimoto and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.

One of the biggest stories ever in the Naruto universe is taking place in Konoha at the moment. It's all unfolding in the Boruto series, with the manga confirming Eida has accepted the Hidden Leaf's offer to become a refugee. It's the only way Shikamaru and Naruto can monitor Eida -- as well as her destructive little brother, Daemon.

They don't want her partnering with Code again, so thankfully, Amado's sinister gamble to get her to defect to their side paid off. Finally, Boruto #73 has revealed Team 7's role in Eida's occupancy, with Shikamaru reaffirming they're all key cogs. However, it has created a weird triangle that could get deadly if the teens don't get along when Eida moves in.

Shikamaru held council to let Team 7 know that, due to Boruto and Kawaki's Ōtsutsuki DNA, Eida can't mind-control them like the others. Thus, they're failsafes and the perfect ones to guard her. As such, they're tasked with cohabitation when she gets to the Hidden Leaf, something both boys found weird as they sought to improve their ninja careers.

It disappointed the teens as they wanted to either take her out or go hunting Code, but Shikamaru made it clear that wouldn't be easy. After all, with Eida's all-seeing abilities, Shikamaru let them know she was already spying in on the conversation. Thus, their best bet was to broker peace -- especially knowing she has a crush on Kawaki.

Boruto is also given an extra job: ensure that violence doesn't ensue if Kawaki doesn't hit it off with Eida when the trio begin living together. Shikamaru can't force Kawaki to love her, but he wants to ensure there's no harsh rejection to set her off. Admittedly, it feels like a reality show set for MTV, but as Naruto relayed the plan to Sasuke simultaneously, he expressed confidence. He couldn't predict how Eida's powers would evolve, and seeing as he lost Kurama and Sasuke lost the Rinnegan, this peaceful solution felt like the right one.

One can only hope things don't go off the rockers when the guys babysit Eida, especially as they still have their rivalry going. Sure, she can't seduce them, but so many things can go wrong if emotions boil over with such immature weapons of mass destruction. It's why Sarada, Mitsuki and Konohamaru will also be monitoring the house from the outside, hoping nothing plays off -- including Momoshiki taking over the Hokage's son again.

Fans are also praying Boruto doesn't get petty if Eida gives Kawaki all the attention -- or that Kawaki doesn't get jealous if the opposite happens. Given they're testosterone-filled shinobi, this could be Eida's way of manipulating them, working a triangle the old-school way to get what she wants. All bets are off as to how crushes and rejections will go, but what's for certain is if things get out of hand, Konoha and younglings like Himawari could get destroyed from the inside.
