WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Boruto: Naruto Next Generations #42 by Masashi Kishimoto, Mikio Ikemoto and Ukyo Kodachi, on sale now.

In the battle to rescue Naruto from the secret prison he's been held in by Jigen in a mysterious space-time pocket, Team 7 has really found the going tough. They're currently stuck in a rut against Kara's deadliest assassin, Boro, and even after figuring out how the virus cloud he has in his arsenal works, the teens just can't seem to catch a break.

It's something we've seen with all of Jigen's lackeys actually, as they've got extra reserves of chakra and end up being near-unbeatable in battle. In Boruto #42, Boro kicks it up a notch, revealing his final Bane-sized form, but in the process, we discover all these warriors Jigen's science team has been engineering actually have a major flaw that could be pounced on by Konoha's shinobi.

As Kawaki helps the Sarada-led Team 7 battle Boro, he unveils a key piece of info he was sitting on all this time, much to the surprise of his comrades. With the kids' chakra reservoirs being drained, Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki think there's no way to beat Boro at all. He's healing rapidly and withstanding all attacks -- even the upgraded Rasengan. To add insult to injury, he's laughing them off as well. Kawaki then confesses they need to go after his "core" -- something Kara's chief scientist, Amado, put in all these scientifically-powered ninjas. This is what gives Boro extra energy and bolsters his chakra exponentially -- to the point he has as much as Naruto and Sasuke when they're maxed out in their brawls.

It's why Boro's turned into a Bane-sized freak, becoming more monster than man in terms of sheer size, and packing many powerful attacks up his sleeves. What makes it worse for the kids is that it's tough to locate this engine with the ordinary eye. Luckily, Sarada uses her Sharingan to track the spot and the team begins formulating a plan to attack it. If they can destroy it, it will break the warrior down inside out and sever Kara's hold on the killers. After all, as per Kawaki's new intel, this core acts as Boro's CPU, so to speak, which also gives Jigen total control over his lackeys. It's the ultimate flaw.

It doesn't just offer a physical boost, though: it's also a mental connection Jigen has been using all along to ensure his legion is as powerful as can be on their mission to resurrect the Ōtsutsuki clan on Earth. What's intriguing is this tech could have been brought to the planet by earlier Ōtsutsuki members before the ninja world was created to boost them as galactic conquerors.

We have no clue how Amado's been doing this but the fact neither Kabuto nor Orochimaru, true geniuses in the Naruto franchise, couldn't come up with this, it does seem like this core is alien in origin. The Ōtsutsuki have been conquering worlds for centuries so it won't be that big a surprise to discover it's really extraterrestrial, as well as the reason Jigen can properly create hybrid soldiers; merged in order to act as vessels for the Ōtsutsuki clan.

With this discovery, Boruto's team will have to act fast, because if Boro can be taken down, the chink in the armor can be used to expose more of Kara's warriors and make them vulnerable for the wars to come. This is the weakness Konoha has been looking for all along, and if Naruto and an injured Sasuke can get back into the fray, we can finally see the heroes taking down Jigen's crew once and for all.
