While there are many things over which fans criticize Boruto Uzumaki, he is a charismatic character who has accomplished a lot in his few years as a shinobi. Boruto is strong, intelligent, and quick on his feet. However, because he is so capable and formidable, he carries the potential to do both great good and great harm. If he is anything like his father, though, Boruto fans know how Boruto will end up.

Boruto's personality and skills have proven he is a great ninja. On top of that, he has new powers that stand in stark contrast to his father. Boruto's path is certain to be different than that of Naruto Uzumaki, but that is exactly what makes Boruto so interesting.

10 Boruto Has A Fresh Attitude For The Show

Boruto fist bump from Boruto

Fans loved Naruto Uzumaki's can-do attitude, his willingness to help anyone change (even the villains), and his seemingly unending wells of compassion. However, Boruto gives fans a slightly different point of view; each protagonist had very different upbringings.

Naruto was orphaned and ostracized, so he never wanted anyone else to feel the same. Meanwhile, Boruto was the son of the Hokage and therefore had a certain level of confidence and entitlement. While Boruto is certainly different than his father, it offers a fresh outlook from which to view the shinobi would.

9 Boruto Has An Interesting New Power

Boruto's karma seal

Naruto was an Uzumaki who played host to the Nine-Tailed Fox Spirit, Kurama. Meanwhile, his son, while also an Uzumaki, had the powers of the karma seal. The two could both perform the Rasengan and had deep wells of chakra, but that is where their power similarities end.

Naruto had the near-limitless power of Kurama, while Boruto's karma seal held Momoshiki's power. In the end, they were both dangerous skills that left them open to dangerous beings. However, their abilities were vastly different and the consequences of using them were equally different.

8 Boruto Is The Culmination Of The Hyuga & The Uzumaki

Next to the Senju and Uchiha clans, the Hyuga clan was one of the most formidable clans in the Hidden Leaf Villages due to their gentle fist fighting style and their powerful dojutsu, the Byakugan. The Byakugan could see nearly 360 degrees for miles, locate chakra networks, and even see through objects.

Boruto and his little sister, Himawari, are a part of the Hyuga clan and the Uzumaki clan, a clan known for their large quantities of chakra and their powerful sealing jutsu. Though Boruto is not the heir to the Byakugan (Himawari is the heir), they both share powerful familial lineages that lead to a lot of possibilities.

7 Boruto Is More Competent At His Age

Unlike his father, Boruto is an incredibly competent child. He passed the Academy in the top of his class, he has already learned jonin-level jutsu, and he absorbs information much easier than his father did. Meanwhile, Naruto's childhood consisted of flunking the Academy, failing to understand even the most basic shinobi concepts, and struggling to learn chakra at first.

Boruto and Naruto could not have had more different starts as ninja. However, fans would have been bored watching the same story again and it would have looked poorly on Naruto if he had not prepared his son.

6 Boruto Will Do Whatever He Can For His Friends

Boruto stops Mitsuki and Sumire

One thing Naruto and Boruto have in common is their care for their friends. Naruto went to the ends of the earth to save Sasuke Uchiha from himself and Boruto has done this, too. He stopped Sumire, fought for her acquittal, and he chased Mitsuki to another land even after Mitsuki tried to fight him off.

Neither Uzumaki has ever been guilty of not taking care of their friends (yet). Furthermore, while Naruto had to gain friends along the way (as he was originally hated by everyone), Boruto had a large friend base from the start and he was still not willing to leave them behind.

5 Boruto Will Do Things His Father Would Never Have Done

Boruto cheats

Boruto is still a child and he does not always get things right. In fact, he has been culpable of some pretty disappointing things throughout Boruto. However, those failures are what make Boruto so interesting. He is different than his father and he has different lessons to learn. Boruto is not a character who blindly follows what others have dictated for him as being "acceptable."

Boruto will do things that his father never would have done and that is both good and bad. In the future, it could put Boruto in a better position for saving the world.

4 Boruto Loves His Sibling

Boruto and Himawari Training

Naruto Uzukami was orphaned and an only child, so he never grew up with siblings. He barely even grew up with friends, as the village ostracized him. Though he did consider Sasuke as somewhat of a brother, it was not the same sibling relationship that Boruto has with his sister.

Boruto's relationship with Himawari is wholesome. He protects her and supports her, even when she is being a bratty younger sibling or besting him at things like unlocking the Byakugan. While he may get mad as any brother might, he is her fierce supporter.

3 Boruto Learns High-Level Jutsu Incredibly Fast

Boruto has a high compression rasengan

Jutsu just comes easily to Boruto. While his father took days to learn just the foundational skills of the Rasengan, Boruto was able to master it relatively quickly (though it did have some variations). When Naruto was an Academy student and genin, he could barely create a clone or transform (unless he was using sexy-jutsu) and it took him way longer than the others to learn things like tree-climbing.

Everything comes pretty naturally to Boruto — this is a sign that Boruto will develop jutsu and fighting styles that outshine his father's.

2 Boruto Is Fearless

Ao vs Boruto

Like his father, Boruto is fearless, even when the enemies greatly outmatch him. He was even willing to take on an Otsutsuki who was in the process of killing his father. While Boruto has been known to take the easy way out sometimes, he is a fearless fighter and will always do whatever it takes.

Boruto's father was not even as fearless as his son at that age. Naruto was scared stiff by Zabuza and Haku to the point where he even allowed the villains to gain the upper hand for a moment.

1 Boruto Is Paving The Way For The New Generation

Anime Boruto, Sarada and kaito in the Boruto anime

Boruto is a character with high charisma and leader-like qualities, so it is no wonder that his classmates, teammates, and fellow shinobi look to him as a voice of the group. He is not only a poster child for young shinobi, but he is also an extrovert who can inspire others as his father did.

Boruto is paving the way for the new generation to assume the spotlight and outpace their predecessors. As Boruto fights to surpass his father, his friends fight to surpass their role models, parents, rivals, and mentors.
