Jamie Lee Curtis is the latest big name to join the film adaptation of hit game Borderlands.

Collider is reporting that Curtis is in talks to board the movie based on the Gearbox Software and 2K Games franchise. If cast, she would play Tannis, based on the non-playable character Dr. Patricia Tannis from the game series. Tannis is an archaeologist based on the planet Pandora who has a complex relationship with Lilith, a thief who will be played by Cate Blanchett. Rounding out the main cast is Jumanji star Kevin Hart, who joined the film earlier this year as the soldier Roland.

"Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been a life long dream of mine, and I am so excited for her to bring her humor, warmth and brilliance to the role of Tannis," said Eli Roth, who will direct the film from a script by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl).

“The kind of talent we’ve been able to bring together for Borderlands is a testament to the incredible script that Craig wrote and Eli's vision for Pandora," said Lionsgate's Nathan Kahane. "Jamie is unique in that her characters have depth and gravitas, but are also always hugely entertaining -- she commands the screen. At this point, Jamie is like family to us after bringing so much to Knives Out and hosting last summer’s 'Lionsgate Live' fundraiser to help theater workers, [so] we could not be more thrilled to be working with her again."

The Borderlands film is expected to be a loose adaptation of the popular franchise, which constitutes a set of role-playing first-person shooters set on the planet Pandora. After being ravaged and abandoned by larger corporations in search of treasure, the left-behind workforce takes over the planet and turns it into a lawless land. However, following the discovery of mystical Vaults, the corporations return to the planet to plunder its wealth.

The film will be released by Lionsgate and produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad's Arad Productions and Erik Feig at Picturestart. Despite the numerous controversies surrounding him, Gearbox's Randy Pitchford will also produce the movie.

Jamie Lee Curtis will next star in Halloween Kills in 2022, the followup to 2018's hit Halloween, a soft reboot/sequel to the original horror film.

Directed by Eli Roth, Borderlands stars Kevin Hart and Cate Blanchett. The film has yet to receive a release date.
