Hot on the heels of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel team-up Hellmouth, BOOM! Studios has announced that the Angel ongoing series will be renamed Angel & Spike, beginning with February's Issue #9.

Written by Bryan Edward Hill with art by Gleb Melnikov, Angel & Spike will serve as the launching pad for "Ring of Fire," a crossover between the newly titled series and Buffy. In it, Spike will join Gunn, Fred, Lorne and Lilith as a new evil descends on Los Angeles. The gang, affectionately called Team Spike, will face down this new enemy while still contending with longtime foes Wolfram and Hart. However, one of the mysteries of the series will be the whereabouts of Angel.

"Betrayal, heartache, and violence are what the new TEAM SPIKE have to look forward to in the post-Hellmouth landscape we’re calling Ring of Fire," BOOM! Studios Executive Editor Jeanine Schaefer said in a statement. "You know, all the good stuff! They think evil has landed in Los Angeles, but what they’ll find is that it’s been there all along, and the source they discover is staggering."

Angel & Spike #9, by Bryan Edward Hill and Gleb Melnikov, goes on sale Feb. 26 2020 from BOOM! Studios.
