WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett "Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor," streaming now on Disney+.

Order 66 was one of the most heartbreaking moments in Star Wars lore, as Clone Troopers betrayed the Jedi Order and caused the deaths of many Jedi -- with the notable exception of Grogu, who was protected by an unidentified savior. That tragedy changed the landscape of the galaxy forever, giving rise to Emperor Palpatine and allowing him to turn the Republic into an oppressive Empire. The Book of Boba Fett had its own spin on the kill order during its war for Tatooine.

Palpatine proved how conniving he could be in Revenge on the Sith, using implants to get most of the Clone Troopers and shoot the Jedi down. The heroes were caught off guard because no one saw the traitorous act coming after they fought alongside each other the Clone Wars. Order 66 granted Palpatine immense power and sent the likes of Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi into hiding, with Yoda even losing his lightsaber until it somehow reappeared during The Book of Boba Fett.

Book of Boba Fett Order 66

An event similar to Order 66 happened when Boba, Fennec Shand and Din Djarin set soldiers up at various outposts on Mos Espa. They didn't want to be blindsided by another surprise attack like the cantina bomb or flanked at Jabba's palace, so they chose to station troops in the streets and at the starport. With these patrols in place, Team Boba would be notified when the Pyke Syndicate brought reinforcements in. With the other gotras of Mos Espa having promised to stay neutral, this should have given them home turf advantage. But the locals turned on Boba's people, making it clear that they were bought and paid for by the Pykes.

The Order 66 comparison came in when the Gamorrean Guards were pushed off a cliff after Boba's negotiations with Cad Bane fell apart. Black Krrsantan was in Trandoshan territory, but that went south quickly when the lizards started hacking away at him as revenge for his murders earlier in the season. Drash and Skad led the other Mods, who were cornered in the Worker's District in the Aqualish Quarter, losing some of their own amid a hail of gunfire. It seemed like another deadly trap had taken place.

But while the Jedi were ambushed with their backs to the enemy, Boba and his allies were more resilient and resourceful, preventing history from repeating itself. Fennec Shand rescued the Mods with her sharp shooting from the rooftop -- reaffirming that she's the deadliest assassin in Star Wars history -- while Santo was able to muscle and claw his way back to Boba for cover. The Gamorreans were the only ones who died in the kind of surgical strike Boba wanted to inflict on the invaders, but ended up fighting off instead.

With Boba and Din leading the way, The Book of Boba Fett finale made the Gamorreans' sacrifice meaningful as the heroes rallied with the aid of Grogu and Boba's own rehabilitated Rancor. Boba's posse barely escaped with the win, reminding the bounty hunter turned daimyo he needed to be careful with who he trusted lest another Order 66-esque tragedy actually come to pass in the future.
