WARNING: The following contains minor spoilers for The Book of Boba Fett Episode 4, "Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm," streaming now on Disney+.

While continuing to flesh out actor Temuera Morrison's modern interpretation of the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett, Disney+'s The Book of Boba Fett has also effectively opened the door for Star Wars characters originating from the pages of Marvel comic books to make the jump to live-action.

The Book of Boba Fett's second episode, "Chapter 2: The Tribes of Tatooine," marked the live-action debut of none other than the notorious Wookiee bounty hunter Black Krrsantan. Created by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca, Black Krrsantan first appeared in Star Wars: Darth Vader #1, which was published by Marvel Comics in early 2015. Krrsantan would go on to become a major supporting player in Marvel's Star Wars: Doctor Aphra, originally written by Gillen and illustrated by Kev Walker.

Following his debut in "Chapter 2," the live-action version of Krrsantan -- played by Carey Jones -- later appeared in The Book of Boba Fett's third episode, "Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa." Following a brief battle with Boba Fett and his new mercenaries, Krrsantan is captured. Boba, a former bounty hunter himself, ultimately lets Krrsantan go (albeit not before giving him some parting advice). However, the show's latest episode, "Chapter 4: The Gathering Storm," makes it clear that the Wookiee is here to stay -- which means more Marvel Star Wars characters can't be too far behind.

Doctor Aphra Is An Obvious Choice

First and foremost, the Marvel Star Wars character fans are likely most eager to see debut on-screen is Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra. Created by Gillen and Larroca, Aphra first appeared in 2015's Star Wars: Darth Vader #3. The character proved to be a hit among readers, soon landing her very own solo title, the aforementioned Star Wars: Doctor Aphra.

Created as the moral inverse of Indiana Jones, Doctor Aphra is a morally-gray archeologist who was active around the time of the original Star Wars trilogy, even rubbing shoulders with the likes of Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Han Solo and Hera Syndulla (of Star Wars Rebels fame). In other words, much like her on-again/off-again running buddy Black Krrsantan, Aphra would be a perfect fit for The Book of Boba Fett (or perhaps a potential spinoff), which takes place just five years after Return of the Jedi and shines a light on the galaxy's criminal underbelly.

Fans have already expressed interest in seeing Doctor Aphra get an on-screen adaptation, and it's not hard to see why. The lead character is fun, interesting, complex and could serve to bring some meaningful LGBTQ+ representation to Star Wars' on-screen offerings, as the character is canonically a lesbian and has been romantically involved with at least two women -- Sana Starros and Magna Tolvan -- in the comics.

While Marvel was rumored to be developing a Star Wars series for Disney+ a couple years ago, it's pretty much been radio silent on that front ever since. Thanks to Black Krrsantan showing up in The Book of Boba Fett, however, we can confidently say that a live-action Doctor Aphra appearance -- or maybe even an entire show starring the character -- is officially possible.

Ren Has a World of Potential

All that being said, Marvel's live-action Star Wars prospects don't begin and end with the good doctor. Another Marvel character hailing from the galaxy far, far away who could benefit from the live-action treatment is Ren, the original founder of the Knights of Ren.

Created by Charles Soule and Will Sliney, Ren played a major role in the 2019-2020 Marvel limited series Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren, which chronicles the fall from grace that led the young Ben Solo to become Kylo Ren, the central antagonist of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. Marvel's Ren did make an animated appearance in the Disney+ special LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales. However, there's still a lot that can be done with the character in live-action. First and foremost, Ren could serve to elevate and further flesh out his Knights, who many fans believe were underserved in the recent films.

Furthermore, while the original Ren has obvious ties to the Sequel era, he was also active during the days of the Original Trilogy era, with Soule and Steven Cummings' Star Wars: Crimson Reign directly tying Ren to Qi'ra (of Solo: A Star Wars Story fame) and Crimson Dawn. With Marvel having laid the groundwork, there is a lot Lucasfilm can still do with this character on Disney+ or on the big screen, across multiple eras of the Star Wars franchise, no less.

The Floodgates Are Open

In recent years, Lucasfilm has brought more and more characters from its various Star Wars animated series to live-action. The second season of Disney+'s The Mandalorian not only saw Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Rebels alum Katee Sackhoff play the character of Bo-Katan Kryze on-camera for the first time, but also saw Rosario Dawson step into the role of the fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano. What's more, Ahsoka is set to star in her own spinoff series alongside a live-action version of Rebels' Sabine Wren, with Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn rumored to be making the jump as well.

Given these recent developments, it's easy to forget that the character who actually kicked that door down was Saw Gerrera, who originated from The Clone Wars before being portrayed in live-action by Forest Whitaker in 2016's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (which also featured a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo by Chopper from Rebels). For all intents and purposes, Black Krrsantan could very well be Marvel's Saw Gerrera.
