Although DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation have yet to release "The Dark Knight Returns Part 2," details have already begun to emerge from the woodwork for "Superman: Unbound," the animated film based on a 2008 "Action Comics" storyline by DC's Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns. The animated film sees Superman, voiced by "White Collar" star Matt Bomer, face off against Brainiac, played by "Fringe's" John Noble. TV Guide has posted two still images featuring Superman's new look for the film, as well as a sneak peek at Lois Lane and Supergirl, played by "Castle" alums Stana Katic and Molly Quinn, respectively. "Superman: Unbound" director/supervising producer James Tucker spoke briefly with TV Guide about how well-suited the cast was to their roles.

"[Matt Bomer] had a jovial energy that was a little counter to what we usually do with Superman," Tucker told TV Guide. "But he also had that decency in his voice that Superman really needs no matter which way you go with him."

The director also complimented John Noble on his portrayal of the villainous Brainiac. "John had a lot of energy and he really got into the psychology of what was motivating Brainiac," he said. "He brought a level of intelligence, but also that slight bit of crazy that a super villain needs to have under the surface to make him compelling."

"Superman: Unbound" is expected to release this summer.
