In a pairing we never ever saw coming, the Bombshell movie Twitter account compared the film's leads to Riverdale's Archie Andrews and... huh?Ahead of the movie's release, the official Twitter account for the film posted a tweet suggesting the female leads are fighting the same kind of fight as Riverdale's red-headed hero. This is a strange crossover, as Bombshell is a movie exploring the Roger Ailes sexual harassment scandal at FOX news, while Archie Andrews is the fictional character going to war with a violent street gang in the drama Riverdale. The tweet puts the two in the same universe, saying, "Like Archie Andrews, the women of #BombshellMovie are ready to go to war and fight for what is right. Buy tickets now to catch #BombshellMovie in theaters December 20."

Fans of The CW show will get the reference to Archie, as this character's arc saw him stand up to the dangerous criminal elements in his hometown of Riverdale. The show has positioned him as a bit of a vigilante for justice, which is probably the logical explanation for the comparison to the film, as the women fight to bring down a sexual predator.

Aside from this tweet, the connection between the movie and the show is unclear, but maybe the folks running the social media account for Bombshell are just Riverdale fans. Either way, it's a pretty surprising mashup of media.

The midseason finale premiered Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, but the show will return January 15th 2020. Riverdale stars KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Madelaine Petsch, Casey Cott, Vanessa Morgan, Mark Consuelos, Skeet Ulrich, Marisol Nichols and Madchen Amick.
