Bob's Burgers showrunner Loren Bouchard revealed how the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic scuppered plans to release a theatrical short film entitled "My Butt Has a Fever."

"My Butt Has a Fever" would have seen Tina, Eugene and Louise Belcher all singing a song that took direct inspiration from the movie's title. The very concept of the short musical, and the audience appeal of hearing the Belcher kids singing about their butts, however, is something Bouchard isn't even totally confident would have connected with audiences.

"First of all, there are no theaters to release it into and, second of all, would anyone want to go see the Belcher kids sing a song called 'My Butt Has a Fever'?" Bouchard told EW. "Of course, we're hoping at some point it'll be okay again, but talk about pre-COVID plans getting changed."

"My Butt Has a Fever" would have played before a feature film much in the way The Simpsons' theatrical short "Playdate with Destiny" did when it accompanied Pixar's Onward earlier this year, prior to the pandemic forcing movies to reschedule and cinemas to close.

Created by Loren Bouchard, Bob's Burgers stars H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal. The series airs Sundays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
