Hot off Boba Fett's cameo appearance during the second season premiere of The Mandalorian, a spinoff show starring the bounty hunter could start filming as soon as next week.

According to Deadline, a Star Wars TV show is kicking off principal photography in the final weeks of 2020. Speculation has mounted that this could be the third season of The Mandalorian, filming under the name Buccaneer. However, Deadline noted a rumor that a miniseries starring Boba Fett would actually film in that timeframe. After Boba Fett's show finishes filming, The Mandalorian Season 3 would then begin shooting.

The outlet does not provide any details on who would be writing or directing this miniseries. Prior Boba Fett rumors suggested the Star Wars character's presence would be limited to The Mandalorian, with the show reportedly following the character across multiple seasons.

If a miniseries starring Boba Fett is on the horizon, it would align with prior comments from former Disney CEO Bog Iger, who suggested earlier this year (prior to his resignation) that there were plans for The Mandalorian to receive spinoffs. Rumors previously circulated that a spinoff starring the Mandalorian character Cara Dune (played by Gina Carano) alongside the Star Wars Rebels character Bo-Katan Kryze was in the works, though Deadline's report noted that "[s]uch a project does not appear to be real, at least for now."

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal, with guest stars Gina Carano, Carl Weathers and Giancarlo Esposito. Directors for the new season include Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, Peyton Reed and Robert Rodriguez.
