According to George Lopez, an official Blue Beetle trailer might be on its way sooner than later.

Lopez dropped the news via Instagram, posing alongside director Angel Manuel Soto and co-stars Xolo Maridueña and Harvey Guillen while dubbing their group "THE BEETLES." While the post didn't include a specific release date, the actor declared, "SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!! TRAILER COMING SOON AND YOU’RE GONNA LOVE IT!!," before cryptically adding, "STAY TUNED."

Recently, a promotional image gave fans their first official look at protagonist Jaime Reyes' (Maridueña) Blue Beetle armor, heavily resembling his comic counterpart's uniform. The costume was leaked last year in a well-received set photo but, aside from its official movie poster, no other Blue Beetle clips have dropped yet. However, Lopez recently attained an Instagram shoutout from DCU co-chairman James Gunn for his performance as Jaime's uncle Rudy, writing, "Wait till people see how good you are in this, George."

First appearing in 2006's Infinite Crisis #3, Jaime became the third DC superhero to adopt the Blue Beetle moniker, following Golden/Silver Age hero Dan Garret -- whose rights DC obtained from Charlton Comics -- and Justice League International member Ted Kord. A Mexican-American teenager who discovers an extraterrestrial Scarab formally in Kord's possession, Jaime ends up fusing with the Scarab and uses his newfound powers to fight crime, eventually discovering its connection to an alien race known as The Reach. The character later debuted on Smallville and received multiple animated appearances on Batman: The Brave and the Bold and Young Justice, both of which explored the Scarab's origin and Reach's adversarial relationship with the Green Lantern Corps.

Last year's official Blue Beetle synopsis teased Jaime coming into "possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle." Gunn also confirmed that Blue Beetle will tie into his "soft reboot" of DC's ongoing film lineup, linking events between The Flash and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom before Gunn and Peter Safran launch their new project slate.

Alongside Blue Beetle, Maridueña currently stars in Netflix's Cobra Kai, now going into its sixth and final season. Showrunner Jon Hurwitz recently hinted at the idea of Cobra Kai spinoffs, but didn't specify whether they'll include Maridueña's character Miguel Diaz. Soto, meanwhile, will direct an upcoming Transformers movie, though its title and release date remain unknown.

Blue Beetle arrives in cinemas on Aug. 18.
