Valiant Entertainment has given CBR an exclusive preview of Tim Seeley and Marc Laming's Bloodshot #0, which teases some of the high-octane, bloody action in the book. The publisher also provided CBR with exclusive quotes from Laming as well as editor Lyssa Hawkins and assistant editor Drew Baumgartner.

Asked why he was excited to work on Bloodshot, Laming replied, "I came back to reading the Valiant books with The Valiant which had me gripped and was an excellent introduction to the Valiant Universe and I stayed on board for Bloodshot Reborn and Bloodshot Salvation as they came out. Jeff Lemire had really taken the character to some interesting places and I was hooked from there. So when Lysa asked me on board for Bloodshot #0 and I heard it would be Tim Seeley writing I jumped at the chance. With the zero issue we deal with a small moment that has a huge impact on Bloodshot going forward and to be able to draw how that plays out is truly exciting."

As to why fans should be excited about the issue, Laming said, "It is all guns blazing action with a heart and Tim has given me some great scenes and characters to draw - It's full on, wide screen, big budget blockbuster movie stuff!"

Laming then revealed what he thinks makes Bloodshot unique. "He's been used as a weapon for most of his adult life and has had very little control over that life," he said. "I now have a sense that that is all about to change and people better watch out! I'm really excited to where we are taking him with this story."

Hawkins spoke about the accessibility of the issue, saying, "With the #0 issue of Bloodshot we were aiming at providing a place for new readers to jump on board as well as giving a bit more background information of what made Bloodshot the hero he becomes in Bloodshot #1. The added details of his past should appeal to the big guy's longtime fans, while giving the new fans all they need to know to dive right into the story. We timed the #0 to be in stores when the Bloodshot movie is released in March. So even if you never read Bloodshot before, but liked the movie, you would have a point of entry. The story is hauntingly beautiful, with outstanding art by Marc Laming, who takes over the next arc (issues #0, and 7-9). Brett Booth returns with Bloodshot #10."

Drew Baumgartner added, "This issue picks up with Bloodshot in a totally unexpected place, which very much puts new readers on the same footing as longtime fans. How he came to be there (and where he's headed next) is really what the story is all about, lending deep insight to who Bloodshot is and why he does what he does. It's a great intro to the character that addresses some of the questions I know fans have been asking since issue #1. Plus, it features some truly breathtaking art from Marc Laming — I've been a big fan of his for a long time, and I think this might be some of his best work!"

Bloodshot #0 goes on sale Feb. 19, 2020.
