The PS4-exclusive RPG made by FromSoftware, Bloodborne, was an instant classic when it first released. Its popularity is notable as a console-exclusive as many people will recognize Bloodborne just by the name. Set in the fictional town of Yharnam in a victorian-style, eldritch-inspired world, Bloodborne has the player explore and hunt beasts as repayment for their blood transfusion.

Every enemy has a story, and many of them tie into the bigger picture the game starts alluding to. Each NPC is unique and then subtle storytelling through dialogue, item descriptions, and environment add to make a grand narrative that requires a lot of time to piece together. With the HBO show coming out, it's the careful wish of many fans to include specific plotlines from the game.

10 Gascoigne's Child Has A Tragic End

Bloodborne Father Gascoigne Cutscene

With enough exploration in the first areas of the game, players can meet a little girl at one of the red lantern houses. She urges the Hunter to find her mother and gives a Tiny Music Box if accepted. The story is straightforward, as using the music box on Gascoigne will cause him to fight off his humanity.

It puts him in a vulnerable state as he clutches his head, giving ample opportunity for free damage. Around his arena, the corpse of a woman is on the roof with a red brooch. When given to the little girl, she recognizes it as her mother's and sobs. What happens to her afterward can be discovered in the sewers next to the giant pig.

9 Every Beast Has A Backstory

Bloodborne Vicar Amelia

When players meet both Gascoigne and Amelia, their respective cutscenes show that every beast within the game was once human. The story behind the beasts within the game revolves around the blood that has changed them. Whether it was through transfusion or just the environment of the world tainted by the existence of Pale Blood, beasts started appearing and Hunters were created in response to it.

The intricate ways a Hunter begins to turn more into a beast is explored in the game's lore, but for the purposes of providing a narrative, the television series could easily show more of this dynamic. It could just as well include the story of Hunters of other Hunters.

8 Eileen The Crow Had To Kill Many Hunters

Bloodborne Eileen The Crow Promo Image

Eileen initially keeps her true duty a secret in the game. As the player continues her questline, she opens up about her responsibility to hunt those who have turned. The secrets of skilled Hunters that are tasked with killing Hunters that have strayed too far or have fully become Beasts could be explored a bit more.

The inner workings of this secret sect have long been a question among fans, and the chance to flesh it out more would certainly be welcomed. Eileen certainly seems exhausted by it, but she demands that she take on this job alone without the player's help, as she has done for so long.

7 Cainhurst Is One Of The Most Mysterious Parts Of The Game

Bloodborne Castle Cainhurst

Castle Cainhurst and the Vilebloods have many questions surrounding their existence and their purpose. The nobility within the castle and the creatures that lurk in darkness have much more unique elements than some of the other creatures found elsewhere.

Invisibility and magic being used by the residents inside provide some insight into what the castle was used for, but there is more to speculate on when combined with the Vilebloods. Past Martyr Logarius is the throne room where the Queen waits. She claims that she is the last of her kind, which begs the question of the lives of those she has outlived.

6 Alfred's Questline Ends With His Death

Bloodborne Alfred Laughing

As an Executioner, Alfred already has many unexplained things about him. Whether Executioners were used as Hunters in the past or if they are only tasked with killing those with tainted blood is uncertain. Following his questline will lead him to Queen Annalisse and he will kill her before cackling to himself in triumph.

He claims to have been trained by Martyr Logarius but since this boss is practically guarding the last Vileblood, it raises many questions about Alfred's path to martyrdom. His final act to become a true martyr has him killing himself at the statue where the player first meets him.

5  The Discovery Of Eldritch Beings Bears Repeating

Ebrietas Daughter Of The Cosmos

Pthumerians within the game range from common to very powerful enemies. They are the ones who uncovered the secrets of the Great Ones. The chalice dungeons are thought to have been carved out by them to uncover the truth behind their power. Many of them served as guardians, but it's clear that some were most likely given power or they took it for themselves.

In Mergo's Loft, the Queen can be found looking solemnly in the direction of the boss arena. The story deserves more attention as their actions shape the plot of many more individuals in the game.

4 Laurence & Willem Went In Two Very Different Directions

Bloodborne Willem Cutscene

The two scholars at Byrgenwerth were once close but had a falling out because of their ideals. Willem praised the findings of the old ones and wanted to see the higher truth from the Great Ones. After Insight, he sent people to search within the Pthumerian labyrinths and discovered the Old Blood.

Laurence used the blood in transfusions throughout Yharnam as a means of healing but Willem feared the use of the substance. They split and led very different lives, with Laurence becoming one of the first beasts made by the Old Blood.

3 The People Of Cathedral Ward All Have Stories To Tell

Bloodborne Arianna

There are NPCs that can be found in their respective houses that can be sent to Oedon Chapel or Iosefka's Clinic. Those that go to the clinic are met with an unfortunate fate, but those in the chapel are safe as long as a certain NPC isn't recruited to go there. The individuals themselves all have their quirks and give the player items they can use throughout the game.

Arianna and Adella The Nun are the more interesting ones between them, but it is Arianna that has a potential link to the Queen of the Vilebloods herself. She's one of the ways to get the One-Third Of Umbilical Cord for the true ending of the game and can be murdered by Adella in a jealous rage.

2 Gehrman's Doll Has A Striking Resemblance To Maria

Bloodborne Lady Maria Second Phase

Gehrman is regarded as the first Hunter and created the Trick Weapons and equipment found in the game. He trained Lady Maria, who was in some way related to Queen Annalise, but quickly became obsessed with her. Maria's actions in the Fishing Hamlet caused her to get rid of her weapon, and seek either solitude or death out of guilt.

Gehrman's obsessive nature still had him wanting Maria, and the Doll was created after her disappearance. In the "real world," the doll is lifeless as it should be, but within the Hunter's Dream, she is very much alive. The story of Maria and being one of the earliest Hunters would be amazing to see on screen.

1 Everything Leads Back To Kos, Or Some Say Kosm

Bloodborne Orphan Of Kos

The great being's corpse that washed up the shore of the Fishing Hamlet ended up mutating those in the surrounding areas. Eventually, Hunters came to slaughter people in the area, excavating their eyes from their skulls. The cause of the Nightmare in the DLC is from Kos herself, and the creature players fight is her offspring.

Rom's change from a scholar of Byrgenwerth to the Vacuous Spider also came from Kos' influence. Rom is the source of hiding all the strange beings in Yharnam, and when she is killed, the Amygdalas are finally visible without high Insight. She isn't the original Great One, but her influence lasted for a very long time until the Orphan was defeated.
