Powerhouse Animation, the animation studio behind Netflix's acclaimed anime-inspired adaptation of Castlevania is back with a new series this month in Blood of Zeus, providing their own take on classic Greek mythology.

The upcoming animated series, set for release on Oct. 27, has unveiled its debut trailer as a young man named Eivos learns he is the son of Zeus. With monsters threatening Olympus and the people of Ancient Greece to make good on the Titans' vendetta against the gods, Eivos will have to claim his divine destiny to prevent the land from plunging into darkness.

True to its title, the trailer showcases plenty of bloody action as Eivos cuts apart the monsters that have grown after consuming the flesh of the fallen Titans. Meanwhile, Zeus' wife, Hera, appears to be behind a plot to betray her fellow Olympians, working with the Titans to get revenge on her unfaithful husband once and for all.

Announced last year under the original title of Gods & Heroes, the animated series is directed by Shawn Nigoghossian, with the first season expected to run for eight episodes.

Starring Jason O'Mara, Mamie Gummer, Chris Diamantopoulos, Derek Phillips and Jessica Henwick, Blood of Zeus premieres Oct. 27 on Netflix.
