Video game studio and Activision subsidiary Blizzard Entertainment is working on a new first-person shooter, developed in part by Overwatch 2 designer Kristopher Howl.Twitter user Faizan Shaikh discovered Blizzard's unannounced FPS game on April 25. The game is mentioned on Kristopher Howl's LinkedIn page, where Howl outlines his professional experience at Blizzard Entertainment. Howl's credits include principal game design on Overwatch 2, mission design on Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void's campaign, creative work on the canceled Blizzard shooter Titan (which later became Overwatch) and, most recently, lead game design on an unannounced PVP FPS title.RELATED: Activision Blizzard Backtracks on Decision to End Vaccine Mandates

According to his LinkedIn page, Howl's time at Blizzard ended in July 2020, suggesting that this unannounced title has been in the works for at least two years. In that time, various high-profile Blizzard titles have seen significant delays, including Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV. The studio has also announced a variety of projects about which little is known, including an untitled first-person survival title. Howl's LinkedIn page doesn't mention any work on that title or Diablo IV, but he does seem to have been concurrently working on Overwatch 2 and the newly discovered unannounced PVP FPS game.

LinkedIn pages have become increasingly useful tools for players looking to scrounge up details about their favorite studios. QA tester Corey Hong's LinkedIn page recently revealed a handful of unannounced Naughty Dog projects. Hong, who has been a Naughty Dog employee for three years, has a very similar page to Kristopher Howl's. Like Howl's, Hong's page revealed QA work on several unannounced titles, including a multiplayer project and an unannounced remake.

The discovery of Blizzard's unannounced title comes amidst a flurry of controversy for the studio. Parent company Activision Blizzard is currently under investigation for widespread sexual harassment, and it's been alleged that California governor Gavin Newsom has been interfering to support Activision Blizzard. Meanwhile, Blizzard Entertainment's sister studio, Raven Software, recently won the right to unionize in an NLRB ruling. In addition to all of that, Activision Blizzard is also in the process of being bought by Microsoft.

Throughout Blizzard Entertainment's recent whirlwind of controversy and activity, the newly-discovered unannounced PVP FPS project has sat on the backburner. When audiences can expect a formal announcement is unknown. The project does not have a release date, and playable platforms are also unannounced. In the meantime, the other PVP FPS title Kristopher Howl designed during his time at Blizzard, Overwatch 2, is in beta testing on PC until May 17.
