Blizzard has denied a report that it canceled a planned announcement of Diablo 4 at BlizzCon.
The company behind World of Warcraft and Overwatch, held its annual convention earlier this month, and while there were announcements for other franchises, the only news released about the dungeon-crawler Diablo series was for the mobile game Diablo Immortal.
As reported by TechSpot, a portion of the Diablo fandom has responded negatively to the lack of an announcement for the highly anticipated Diablo 4. That was only exasperated when a report by Kotaku asserted a clip in which Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham purportedly confirmed Diablo 4 was initially planned to be revealed during BlizzCon, but was pulled at the last second.
However, Blizzard denies it halted a planned announcements. The company released a statement that read, in part, “We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements. We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right.”
