Kubo's Declaration Was Made in Jest

Twitter user Craftsdwarf Fantasia (@Craftsdwarf) provided more context to Kubo's "controversial" statement. When Kubo's editor told him to make his manga more like One Piece, he responded with an exaggerated declaration of hate towards his fellow mangaka. The radio program hosts laughed after Kubo made his comical response, making it clear Kubo was joking around. Just like Kubo, Oda has also publicly expressed his frustration with editors. Oda revealed that early in his career, an editor told him his girls weren't "cute."

While Oda is preparing for the final story arc of One Piece, Kubo concluded the story of Bleach on Aug. 22, 2016. However, the anime series produced by Studio Pierrot ended its original run in 2012 without adapting the last storyline in the series. Ten years later, Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is now its own animated series, giving anime fans the proper conclusion to Bleach that they've been waiting a decade for.
