Bleach's hero Ichigo Kurosaki is famed for his cool punk attitude, black Soul Reaper robes, shocking orange hair and, most of all, his ultra-sharp zanpakuto, Tensa Zangetsu. He took on all of the strongest villains in Bleach and vanquished them, but can he handle another shonen protagonist in mortal combat?

In JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Jotaro Kujo was the third Joestar hero, a no-nonsense high school senior who soon awakened his very own Stand, named Star Platinum. Star Platinum is an effective melee warrior with astonishing speed and hitting power, and that, paired with Jotaro's sharp wits, makes for a winning combination. Now, Jotaro will face his greatest challenge: the substitute Soul Reaper, Ichigo Kurosaki.

Ichigo's Powers & Abilities

Ichigo Kurosaki started off with a pretty basic set of moves but soon powered up. He gained Soul Reaper powers when Rukia lent him her own power, and from that point on, Ichigo underwent all kinds of training to get used to this new lifestyle. He trained under Kisuke Urahara to gain his true zanpakuto, Zangetsu, and he mastered shikai, then bankai. Zangetsu's shikai is like an elongated butcher knife, sturdy and sharp but otherwise unremarkable, and the bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, is something more. It's a long, thin blade that grants Ichigo astonishing speed, enough to rival Captain Byakuya Kuchiki. Ichigo's shikai and bankai can release powerful, ranged energy blasts called Getsuga Tensho, and Ichigo can also wrap the Getsuga Tensho around his zanpakuto's blade to increase its close-range hitting power.

Ichigo learned to tame his inner Hollow, a legacy of Captain Sosuke Aizen, and was soon able to don his Hollow mask to boost his combat power, speed and stamina. His Getsuga Tensho is also strengthened, turning black instead of blue. Lastly, Ichigo has another layer to his inner Hollow: its Vasto Lorde form. If Ichigo is mortally wounded, his Vasto Lorde side will emerge and commandeer his body, healing him while also lending him a strength that exceeds anything that came before, including a red cero that can rival the dreaded Cero Oscuras. Ichigo cannot control himself while in this form, however, and tends to act like a berserker.

Jotaro Kujo's Mighty Stand & Wits

Jotaro posing with Star Platinum

Jotaro Kujo is a Stand user, and his Stand, Star Platinum, could be described as basic but effective compared to most other Stands. Star Platinum is a melee warrior, a humanoid with extreme toughness, speed and hitting power, making it an ideal up-close Stand that can take other Stands by surprise. Ranged Stands are quickly vanquished when Star Platinum gets up close and personal, and Star Platinum can avoid enemy attacks with its remarkable reflexes and even catch bullets. Star Platinum has enough dexterity to also remove flesh buds from people's foreheads, such as when Jotaro nimbly removed Kakyoin's flesh bud in Stardust Crusaders, and Star Platinum can even elongate its fingers to take the enemy by surprise.

This fearsome melee power is backed up by two things: Jotaro's sharp wits, and a time-freezing power that was inspired by DIO's own. During Jotaro's final battle with DIO in the streets of Cairo, Jotaro learned to mimic The World's ability to halt time for a few seconds, and Jotaro soon turned that power on its master. This gives Jotaro an obvious advantage, allowing him to either strike down his helpless enemy or escape an untenable situation. In addition, Jotaro has a clever and resourceful mind, being able to pick up on the enemy's strategy and figure out a counter-strategy before too long. Jotaro can also use mind games on his enemies, such as when he bluffed his way to victory against Daniel J. D'Arby, a Stand user and master gambler (and cheater). Jotaro isn't easily intimidated or manipulated by taunts or threats.

Ichigo Vs. Jotaro - Who Would Win?

Bleach Ichigo Final Zangetsu

Ichigo and Jotaro have similar personalities, being tough and confident warriors who aren't easily prone to losing their cool. At first, they will strike even in their duel, as Ichigo uses his shikai against the powerful Star Platinum (for the sake of argument, Ichigo can see Star Platinum). Jotaro will get serious and take the lead, overwhelming Ichigo's defenses with his Stand's rapid, hard-hitting punches and sharp reflexes. Ichigo is taking a few blows by now, so it's time for bankai.

Now Ichigo takes a slight lead, using his superior speed and flash step to outmaneuver Jotaro and aim for Jotaro himself since Ichigo can't destroy Star Platinum. Jotaro will be hard-pressed to defend himself, and he'll start taking damage. Worse yet, his enemy's fighting style is straightforward, and there aren't any obvious ways to turn Ichigo's power against him or pull off some resourceful trick. Ichigo's Hollow mask will solidify his lead, and he might take out Jotaro at this point if he can maneuver just right.

If Jotaro does survive the Hollow mask, he can press the panic button and use his time-freezing power. It only lasts a few seconds, but that should be enough time for Star Platinum to do some serious punches. However, even that is still not enough. Once Ichigo slashes Jotaro again, it's over. Ichigo's the victor.
