What's a TV show without a little comic relief here and there? In any story, viewers might get wound a little too tight if things stay tense, so comic relief can ease the tension and help create a more dynamic tone for the narrative. That's important for any genre, and it's true in anime, too.

In fact, anime is often known for bringing on the laughs, even in the middle of important scenes! The unique visual flair of anime (and great voice acting) can make for some hilarious gags. So, which ten characters in Tite Kubo's Bleach are the most amusing to see on screen? Some of them might surprise you!

10 Kon

You just new Kon would make this list, didn't you? At first, Kon had a somewhat serious story about being an unwanted mod soul slated for destruction. But once he ended up in a stuffed lion toy, the antics begin.

Like Keigo, he's a shameless womanizer, but fortunately, the girls can fend him off without much trouble. That, and his snide remarks are oddly effective at shaking Ichigo out of a bad mood! Let's not forget all those times when Uryu sewed him up in goofy outfits, either.

9 Don Kanonji

Don Kaninji is a natural showman, being a popular TV star and a charismatic guy. He's a riot to watch, since he's got that colorful outfit, a flamboyant personality, and that incredibly lame trademark laugh!

How do you do it? Cross your arms over your chest, flex your fingers into claws, and say "WA HA HA HA!" All of Ichigo's classmates are doing it, from Keigo to Chad to Rukia, and it's hysterical every time. Laugh it up, guys!

8 Uryu

What's this? How did the brainy, polite, and well dressed Uryu end up on this list of goofballs? That's actually what makes him funnier. Uryu is an emotional and passionate boy, and he loves to sew up women's clothes (not that there's anything wrong with that!).

He took it on himself to sew up Kon into outrageous outfits, as mentioned earlier, and it's even sillier since Uryu does all this with a perfectly straight face. And besides, Uryu's impatient reactions to other people's antics is priceless!

7 Rukia

Rukia and Ichigo in Bleach

Overall, Rukia Kuchiki is a tragic figure, but take it from us: this girl knows how to have fun! Where to even begin? She loves Don Kanonji and delights in doing his stupid laugh, and she draws charming rabbit people to provide visual aids in her lectures about spiritual matters.

She gets really defensive if people criticize those drawings, too. Not to mention how she tricked Isshin into thinking she was some poor lost girl, and even her melodramatic sob story won him over.

6 Ganju

ganju shiba in bleach

He is Ichigo's cousin (through Isshin), though Ichigo doesn't know it. And right from the start, Ganju is a loveable goof. He has a whole squad of trained boars on hand, and he gave them all silly names, just like Santa's reindeer crew!

His favorite is Bonnie, and he will ride this giant boar into battle like a knight. He's also a real trickster, using his many tools and low-level kido spells to trip up opponents in combat. And it's a riot when the hot-headed Ganju and Ichigo butt heads. Which is often!

5 Yumichika

Yumichika in Bleach

Yumichika Ayasegawa is the 5th seat of the thuggish Squad 11, but you wouldn't guess it if you met him! He's a pompous and lofty man who loves the most elegant and beautiful things in the world, and he styles himself like a prince. But Yumichika has a short temper, and he goes nuts in combat if anyone gets him dirty or calls him ugly!

That, and he comically fussed at his zanpakuto for having the same attitude. When he fought the flamboyant arrancar Charlotte, both men were a bird of the same feather... and really got on each other's nerves!

4 Rangiku

When duty calls, Rangiku is ready to fight. After all, she is the Lieutenant of Squad 10. But like Rukia, she knows how to kick back and have fun! She loves a good drink, and once she and Izuru Kira ingested some sake, they had a great time loudly complaining about everything (until they fell asleep).

Later, when she joined the Hitsugaya advance squad, Rangiku just ran around enjoying every aspect of mortal human life until the arrancars showed up.

3 Isshin

Dads are often known for their "dad jokes" and wild sense of humor, and Isshin keeps the jokes coming. From the very start, Mr. Kurosaki is a total wacko, waking up his son with a kick to the face (he considers it combat training).

He also loves to wear exotic and colorful shirts, and if someone is feeling down, he'll take it on himself to act a bit like a clown! More than once, his daughter Karin got fed up and slugged him. It's all tough love, really.

2 Nel

Her companions Pesche and Dondochakka soon wear out their welcome, but adorable Nel is always fun to see on screen. She's a total brat and likes to tease Ichigo, and his annoyed eruptions are hysterical.

Not only that, but Nel actually salivated on a wounded arrancar to heal him, teasing him the entire time. Even in adult form, she's a joker, and she hugged Ichigo a bit too tight to show how much she cares! Not all of the arrancars are mean and scary out there.

1 Urahara

Like Rukia, Kisuke Urahara has a bit of a dark past, but he knows how to laugh it off. He's the easygoing owner of Urahara Shoten, and he's quick to tease others while holding up a fan over his mouth.

His chibi faces are not something to be missed! Rukia rolls her eyes at his nonsense more than once, and he goofs off even in combat. When dueling Yammy, Kisuke was pretty chill when he showed off his body double, a portable gigai. He had a smile on his face the entire time!
