Lupin also hailed her as the cleverest witch he met. Hermione excelled in wandless and non-verbal magic, dueling, charms, transfiguration, potions, herbology and apparition.
As a testament to her intellectual bent, she got ‘Outstanding’ in all her Ordinary Wizarding Level Exams save for Defense Against the Dark Arts. Several Bleach characters have demonstrated similar academic proficiency and intellectual gifting as Hermione. Whether by employing their abilities, wit, inventiveness, caution, or talent, these Shinigami apply 'ounces of logic’ just like the muggle-born Hermione.
8 Askin Nakk Le Vaar Always Feeling Like Dying
Askin Nakk Le Vaar is a Quincy with the script ‘D’ – The Deathdealing. He is also part of Yhwach’s elite personal guard, the Schutzstaffel. Askin’s ability is arguably one of Bleach’s most intellectually taxing, requiring creative application and precise control. The Deathdealing is dependent on Askin calculating a ‘lethal dose’ – a deadly amount that never fails. Askin manipulates the concentration of that material in others, effectively poisoning them or making them resistant.
For example, Askin shows off his pharmacology expertise when he is able to deduce Nimaiya’s weight and blood capacity, then reduce the lethal dosage of Nimaiya’s blood from 4 liters to 1 liter, which effectively starts killing Nimaiya. Askin is highly perceptive, able to develop immunity to reiatsu attacks after experiencing the assault. He also goes toe to toe with Urahara, able to counter the Bankai's range, a feat that Urahara applauds him for.
7 The First Kenpachi’s Wealth Of Knowledge
Unohana Retsu is the Captain of the 4th Division, and Soul Society’s greatest healer. Given her past as the first Kenpachi, Unohana learned healing techniques from the Royal Guard’s Tenjiro Kirinji for the sole purpose of prolonging her fights. She has the ability to heal various species: human, Shinigami, and arrancar. Her knowledge of anatomy is peerless, which led her to discover Aizen’s plot when she deduced the dead body was not Aizen, and more so, not real.
Unohana is also a master swordsman, having learned all the swordsmanship styles, and being a master at Kendo. Unohana is proficient enough to beat Kenpachi Zaraki, repeatedly. Her keen intellect is the backbone of her prowess, as she notices minute details and uses them to her advantage.
6 The Goddess Of Flash Isn’t Just Fast
Yoruichi Shihouin is the former head of the Onmitsukido and the 2nd Division. She was born the House of Godly Gears' princess, the Shihouin Clan, which is one of the four noble families. Given her background as Captain of the Secret Corps, Yoruichi is a master strategist. Several instances have displayed her wit and craftiness. She's capable of understanding any situation and adapting to it.
She is also adept at stealth, able to take Aizen by complete surprise at Sokyouku Hill. Her mastery over Hakuda is unrivaled in Soul Society, and she uses it as opposed to her zanpakuto on most occasions. Yoruichi is also proficient in the use of specialized equipment. The arsenal consists of the ryukotsujo and tentoken which grant flight. She also possesses the anken, razor wires, and destructive spheres, weapons unique to her.
5 The ‘Closed Eyes’ Prodigy Sees More Than Others
Ichimaru Gin is the former captain of the 3rd Division, and a long-time subordinate of Aizen Sosuke. He happened to spot Aizen collecting souls in Rukongai and figured out he must have been involved in Rangiku’s incident. Since then, he swore to kill Aizen. Ichimaru then joined the Soul Reaper Academy, graduating in one year. He was granted a seated position immediately after, a testament to his genius.
During this time, he continued to serve Aizen, and eventually, learned the secret to combat Aizen’s Kyouka Suigetsu. 110 years later, Gin was finally able to enact his revenge. He has genius-level intellect, was able to manipulate the positions of 3 people during his fight with Hitsugaya, forcing him to halt his attack. He also managed to hide his zanpakuto’s true abilities since joining the Academy, a nigh-impossible feat.
4 The Last Quincy Is Deserving Of His Title
Ryuken Ishida is Uryuu Ishida's father. He's also Ichigo’s ally and Yhwach’s successor. Known as The Last Quincy, Ryuken has demonstrated significant intellectual feats, a result of his own brilliance and inheriting a wealth of knowledge and techniques from his father. In the human world, Ryuken is a doctor, and in charge of the Karakura Hospital. When Uryuu lost his powers due to using Letz Still, a technique guaranteed to leave one powerless, Ryuken is able to restore his son’s Quincy abilities by exhausting his reiatsu in a grueling 7-day process.
In the past, Ryuken was brilliant enough to figure out Urahara Kisuke’s Hollowfication plan – a last resort to save Masaki from the snippets Urahara gave as explanation. He also autopsied his wife after she succumbed to her injuries resulting from Auswahlen, and figured out the mechanics of the holy selection. He later invents a still silver arrowhead, which is instrumental in the Yhwach's defeat.
3 The Mad Scientist Is Insanely Brilliant
Kurotsuchi Mayuri is the Seireitei’s resident mad scientist. He is a master of science, technology, and strategy. He has surveillance bacteria which he implants into everyone he comes across. He has experimented with various drugs and their effects, able to apply them to a specific situation, battle, or person. Kurotsuchi has made extensive modifications on his body. He can liquefy when destroyed, regenerate lost limbs, and gain immunity from any poison.
He has invented several devices and machines, including a reiatsu amplifier, which Urahara marveled at. He is able to recreate species-specific techniques, such as the Hirenkyaku, and use them to even greater efficiency. Kurotsuchi has modified his zanpakuto in various ways, including adding sensors that parry any sword attacks within 2 feet of his person. His greatest feat is arguably his dabbling into creating life. Nemuri Nanago was the 7th experimental being he created, and her full evolution was the pinnacle of his success as a scientist.
2 Aizen Sosuke Is Arguably The Greatest Anime Villain
Aizen Sosuke is arguably god-like when it comes to intellect. He was able to put on a facade for almost two centuries, faking his appearance, scheming his usurping plot, and conducting experiments into hollowfication. Despite being listed as "special war potential" by the Quincy due to his reaitsu, Aizen is stronger and smarter than almost all beings in Soul Society. He conducted hollowfication experiments while remaining undetected as a lieutenant.
Additionally, he was able to decipher how to ascend to the Royal King Palace – a matter that was not public knowledge. Aizen was also able to perfect the Hougyouku, a hax orb that breaks down the boundary between Shinigami and Hollow, and manifests the user’s desires. Aizen’s skill in deception and manipulation, coupled with his superior intellect, are what make him godlike.

Urahara Kisuke is listed in the special war potentials list as a threat due to his ‘unknown means’. He "always come[s] expecting 1,000 what-if-scenarios so [he's] never caught with [his] pants down.” Kisuke is a master inventor and strategist. He devised a means to achieve Bankai in 3 days by forceful materialization, and created the initial Hogyouku, which enabled him to stabilize hollowfication, and thus create the Visored.
He is proficient in interdimensional travel, via Garganta technology. Kisuke recreated Tenjiro’s hot springs on earth, which was no ordinary feat. The former captain of the 12th Division was able to create kidou that could seal off Aizen Sosuke, and was brilliant enough to recognize Kurotsuchi’s potential and have him released. In the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, Urahara’s genius sees him devise vaccines against the Quincy Bankai-stealing ability, and Askin Nakk Le Vaar’s Deathdealing. The founder of the Shinigami Research and Development Institutes’ intelligence is simply unmatched.
