Blade is Marvel's ultimate vampire hunter. Half-vampire, half-human, Eric Brooks aka Blade is a hybrid with the abilities of a vampire. He experiences none of the traditional drawbacks of being a vampire either, meaning he's able to walk freely in the daylight and wear a cross without breaking a sweat. The vampire hunter would go on to be an enduring figure in Marvel Comics, hitting the big screen when Wesley Snipes played him in a trilogy of Blade movies followed by a failed spin-off TV show. Now, Mahershala Ali will be taking on the role in a new upcoming Blade film.

In his fight against the undead menace that he himself is part of, Blade has gone up against numerous vampires in comics. Based on his track record, powers, and weaknesses, which comic book vampires would Blade be able to beat, and who would he finally succumb to? Also, similar to Batman, with prep-time, Blade could take out just about any foe. So, let's assume he's going into these fights with no time to prepare.

10 He Couldn't Beat: Skinner Sweet

The 10 Most Important Characters Vertigo Introduced to The DC Comics Universe

Since the 1880s, Skinner Sweet is the first American Vampire from the series of the same name. It's this aspect of Skinner Sweet's vampirism that will ultimately lead to Blade's defeat. Unlike the vampire's Blade is used to, Skinner gets stronger in sunlight. But the real nail in the coffin for Blade is, despite having an arsenal of weapons at his disposal, it's doubtful Blade will be carrying the only thing that can kill Skinner Sweet: gold. The only way Blade would win is if he happens to catch Skinner on a moonless night.

9 He Could Beat: Morbius

Marvel Morbius 1 Cropped

Morbius, who, like Blade will soon be getting his own feature-length film, is a vampire emerging from the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man. Bio-chemist Michael Morbius used the powers of comic book science to try and curse his blood disease, only to be turned into a living vampire. So, who between these two schlocky vampires, one a hybrid and one a living vampire, will be the victor?

This would not be an easy victory for Blade by any means, as a lot of the traditional ways he deals with vampires will have to be thrown out the window because of Morbius' unique condition. However, even a science degree won't stop Blade from winning against Morbius, as he is more skilled in combat and more in control of his vampirism. Plus, if you look at the comics, Blade did fight Morbius. This resulted in Blade being bitten, but because he is immune to being turned, Morbius' bite instead allowed Blade to use even more vampiric skills and turned him into a daywalker. So, their confrontation led to Blade becoming even stronger.

8 He Couldn't Beat: Vampirella

Vampirella Terry Dodson

Similar to Blade, Vampirella has none of the traditional vampire weaknesses. She kills evil vampires, so like Blade, she is also skilled in combat against vampires. Depending on who is writing her, Vampirella has a slew of fantastical abilities in addition to her traditional vampiric-based hypnotism, claws, and flight abilities. This would definitely be a tough as nails fight, but Vampirella's powers would best Blade. Then the two could go out to a night club and murder vampires together.

7 He Could Beat: Dracula

In a fight against the grandaddy of vampires, Blade would trounce Dracula. Blade's history with the Lord of Darkness extends back into his comic book origin when he made minor appearances in Tomb of Dracula.

While Blade hasn't permanently taken care of Dracula, he has proven repeatedly that he is fully capable of taking down this undead monstrosity. For a little while, at least.

6 He Couldn't Beat: Durham Red

Durham-Red

Blade would not be able to take down the mutant vampire Durham Red. This British comic book character, who first appeared in the Strontium Dog series published by 2000 AD, does not have a vampire's usual weakness. In addition to her super strength, agility, and regenerative powers, she has worked as a bounty hunter. Unlike Blade, who specialized in hunting vampires, Durham Red is used to hunting down various adversaries. Coming close to a stalemate, Durham Red could eke out a very hard-fought win.

5 He Could Beat: Eben Olemaun

Eben-Olemaun-from-30-Days-of-Night

The protagonist of 30 Days of Night, Sheriff Eben Olemaun injects himself with a vampire's blood to fight against Vicente. Normally, Vicente would be the one on this list. After all, he's the head of the vampires in 30 Days of Night and has hundreds of years of experience. However, despite his inexperience, when Eben turns into a vampire and challenges Vicente, he can emerge victorious.

However, Vicente is not near the same skill as Blade, an expert in vampiric weaknesses. Eben has already turned to ashes once thanks to the sunlight, and Blade would be able to turn him to ashes once again.

4 He Couldn't Beat: Andrew Bennett

I... Vampire from the New 52 Era

From I, Vampire, Andrew Bennet has already proven his prowess when he killed one of the most powerful primordial vampires ever, Cain. He can shapeshift into a bat, wolf, or mist, proving to be very versatile in a fight. While his powers were pretty impressive before his "death," after he was resurrected, he gained new magical abilities, including telekinesis and the ability to raise slain vampires. With or without a vampire army by his side, Andrew would prove superior over Blade.

3 He Could Beat: Proinsias Cassidy

Cassidy-from-Preacher

Around since his birth in the year 1900, Cassidy is the charming vampire friend of Jesse Custer and Tulip O'Hare in PreacherEven with his life experience and vampiric powers, Cassidy suffers from the traditional weaknesses of a vampire.

Because of Cassidy's weakness, which goes beyond his aversion to sunlight and includes his alcoholism and carefree attitude, Blade's well-trained hunting skills would serve him well in this fight. In the end, Cassidy would be reduced to dust by Blade.

2 He Couldn't Beat: Mandrakk (Dax Novu)

Mandrakk-Dax-Novu

Mandrakk is a cosmic vampire from the DC event Final Crisis was the first child of the Monitor. He gains the powers of the 52 universes. This is a character who could not be killed in a one-on-one fight but through the combined efforts of some of DC's most powerful characters. His more traditional vampiric traits include immortality, telepathy, and flight. These are arguably his most basic abilities. The rest of his powers are god-tier, allowing him to manipulate reality. Blade's story would be eaten before he has a chance even to lift his sword.

1 He Could Beat: Alex Elder

Alex-Elder-from-Crimson

Alex Elder from Cliffhanger's Crimson is not one to be underestimated, although he is a teenager. Thanks to drinking the blood of Ekimus the Grigori, the literal father of vampires who spawned the species by mating with Lilith, Alex has incredible powers. These include the ability to create fire without any mystic training, levitation, and flight. He also has the usual traits of vampirism, including super strength, agility, immortality, and regenerative capabilities. However, Blade's wisdom and training far outweigh Alex's, leading Blade to victory.
