In addition to his film work, Hauer's resume also extended to the small screen. He played Niall Brigant in True Blood, Morgan Edge in Smallville and Kingsley in Galavant, among a variety of other roles. However, most will likely remember Hauer for his performance in 1982's Blade Runner where he played Roy Batty, the leader of the rogue Nexus-6 replicants and the main antagonist opposite Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard. While the film received mixed reviews upon its release, it's continued to rise in popularity over the years and has since become a staple in the science fiction genre.

Prior to his death, Hauer provided the voice of Master Xehanort in Square Enix's Kingdom Hearts III, which was released in January.

Hauer leaves behind Ineke ten Cate, his wife of 50 years, as well as his daughter, Aysha Hauer.
