Marvel's Blade reboot will reportedly begin production in July 2022.

As part of The Hollywood Reporter's latest scoop on the production of Ta-Nehisi Coates' Black Superman movie, the outlet revealed that both Warner Bros. and Marvel Studios are searching among some of the same directors for both the Man of Steel movie and Blade. The latter isn't in as much of a rush, however, as it won't begin filming until next summer. According to the outlet, production on the reboot was supposed to begin this September, but the script is still being worked on.

It was announced in February that Watchmen writer Stacy Osei-Kuffour will pen the script for the new movie about Marvel's infamous daywalker, which stars Mahershala Ali. Outside of that, however, next to nothing is known about the direction of the new movie, which will introduce vampires to the MCU—unless the upcoming Morbius film is considered canon.

What we do know is that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie wants to be in Blade, even if it's just to say one line. Interestingly, in the comics, Falcon's bird, Redwing, is turned into a vampire at one point. And when Redwing's vampire-falcon hybrid DNA is used to experiment on Joaquín Torres, it results in him becoming a human-falcon hybrid. It's unlikely that any of this will play out in the MCU, as the Falcon and Winter Soldier writers shot down the idea of Sam getting his psychic link with birds from the comics and the MCU's Redwing is a drone.

In the realm of theories, Blade's daughter may appear in the film. A recent rumor pointed to a character named "Ruby" appearing in the movie, which may be an indication that Fallon Grey, Blade's daughter in an abandoned comic book series, will come to the MCU after years of rumors.

With the film set to begin production in the summer of next year, it further indicates that Blade will arrive in Nov. 2023, where Marvel has an unannounced film set to debut. That would put the movie right after Halloween and give Marvel the typical year or so turnaround from filming start to release.

Written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Blade stars Mahershala Ali. The film has yet to receive a release date.
