Blade, Garfield 2, Spider-Man 3, 30 Days of Night: June 16th Comic Reel Wrap

BLADE

The network has launched a new website for the Kirk Jones-fueled cable series, complete with cast info, photos, video clips and further blood-stained data. The series premieres on Spike TV June 28th.

GARFIELD: A TALE OF TWO KITTIES

Did you know that there’s a sequel to the “Garfield” movie coming out today? Us neither. Anyway, IGN’s FilmForce has a preview of the movie with director Tim Hill saying, “We wanted to take Garfield out of his usual environs — owner Jon Arbuckle’s home on a cul-de-sac, and take him to a more exotic location. In England, Garfield’s not only a fish out water, he’s a bull in a china shop.” Meanwhile, movie critic Roger Ebert has reviewed the sequel to help audiences make a decision about it … written in the voice of the title character. Seriously.

SPIDER-MAN 3

Another day, another group of set photos, ho hum …

30 DAYS OF NIGHT

According to the Hollywood Reporter, actor Josh Hartnett will headline the Steve Niles adaptation, now at Columbia Pictures. Shooting is set to begin in early August in New Zealand. Ghost House Pictures’ Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing, while Grant Curtis is overseeing the production for the Sony-based production company. Mike Richardson, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane are executive producing.

THAT’S A WRAP

Bit of a slow news day to end the week. Here’s where you get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is, we wanna know it all — fire off an email and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles, this is novelist/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
