Forty years after making his debut in Avengers #195, Taskmaster is finally making his way to the big screen as the big bad guy for Marvel's latest movie, Black Widow. Thanks to a serum he took, Taskmaster can absorb knowledge instantaneously. While being great for tests, this villain uses it to know the fighting styles and patterns of all his foes. He can even learn their styles as their fighting, making him nearly unbeatable when it comes to some good old fashioned hand to hand combat.

While he's certainly proven himself to be a viable threat to the heroes of the Marvel universe, we couldn't help but wonder how Taskmaster and his memory would do if he ended up in the DC universe facing off against some of their best martial artists. Here are 5 DC heroes that Taskmaster can beat, and 5 he can't...

10 Beats: Blue Beetle

Blue Beetle Ted Kord jumping out of The Bug in DC Comics.

Ted Kord has the smarts and the desire to be a hero, but fighting has never been his strongest skill. As Blue Beetle, he relied heavily on his gadgets to do the fighting for him, and during his time with the Justice League, Blue Beetle barely left his self designed ship the Bug to help in the fights. When he did get involved with the fighting, Blue Beetle usually ended up unconscious, or in the battle against Doomsday, in a coma. For Taskmaster, the only skill he would learn from Blue Beetle is the perfect amount of time to toast a Pop-Tart.

9 Gets Beat By: Batman

Taskmaster has the skills to take out just about anyone, but Batman isn't just anyone. The Dark Knight Detective has faced off against much more dangerous threats than Taskmaster, and none of them have taken Batman down. His own fighting skills, mixed with his special weaponry designed to incapacitate a foe and his unyielding determination make Batman not only one of the best fighters in the DC universe, but one of its greatest heroes. In a world with the likes of Superman, Wonder Woman, and Flash, a man with no superpowers has to be really good to make it into the big seven.

8 Beats: The Question

Vic Sage, the first Question, has a mind unlike any other hero. He sees patterns and plots where even Batman would miss them. These skills are his strongest ability, but that doesn't mean he isn't much of a fighter. Vic can more than handle himself in a fight, having trained with some of the greatest martial artists in the world. But all of that won't help him too much against an adversary like Taskmaster. In the end, Vic would be on the ground.

The second Question, Renee Montoya, wasn't trained by the best fighters in the world. She learned to fight on the streets of Gotham, and her hard-hitting brawling style means that she can take down any scum that gets in her way. Any scum, that is, who isn't able to know what moves she'll do before she knows them. When it comes to the Questions, the answer is Taskmaster winning that fight.

7 Gets Beat By: Black Canary

Trained by Wildcat, Black Canary knows how to handle herself in a fight. As a member of the Justice League, she has faced off against some of the most powerful beings in the universe, and she never blinked. Her time fighting street crime with Green Arrow has seen Black Canary deal with all kinds of fighters, from street tuffs who have some basic fighting skills to full-on ninjas. From the street tuff to the ninja, they all went down, and Black Canary keeps on kicking butt.

While Taskmaster can memorize her fighting moves, there's one thing Black Canary can do that he can never learn - the "Canary Cry". One quick scream and Marvel's skull-faced mercenary is out of the fight.

6 Beats: Green Arrow

While his girlfriend can handle whatever Taskmaster may throw at her, Green Arrow isn't going to be so lucky. Normally Oliver Queen's skills with the bow and arrows would be a huge help in a street-level fight, but Taskmaster is used to fighting Marvel's own skilled archer, Hawkeye.

The trick arrows and quick quips won't help Green Arrow out too much in this fight. Taskmaster has all the skills to deal with whatever Ollie may throw at him already in his head, and for anything new Green Arrow may come up with, Taskmaster will be able to learn it and turn it against Green Arrow pretty quickly.

5 Gets Beat By: Mister Terrific

Michael Holt as Mister Terrific

Taskmaster can learn anything instantly, but memorizing something doesn't mean you're smart. Anyone can memorize, it takes a real smartypants to create. That's where Mister Terrific gets the advantage he'd need to take Taskmaster down. As the smartest man in the world, Mister Terrific would be able to figure out Taskmaster's tricks pretty quickly. Able to notice even the smallest muscle movement, Mister Terrific would be able to counter every strike Taskmaters attempts. At the same time, Mister Terrific's biggest muscle, his brain, would be twenty moves ahead, setting Taskmaster up for a brutal beatdown.

4 Beats: Spoiler

An image of Stephanie Brown as Spoiler

The daughter of the criminal mastermind Cluemaster, Stephanie Brown became the vigilante Spoiler to take down her dad. While she started off self-trained in combat, Spoiler started dating Tim Drake, the third Robin, and has picked up more than a few moves from him. Being trained by one of the best fighters in the DC universe is good, but Stephanie isn't as dedicated to the fight against crime as some of her friends are. That's where things get rough for her. Taskmaster wouldn't have to put too much effort into beating Spoiler.

3 Gets Beat By: Orphan

Trained from birth to be the perfect assassin, Cassandra Cain, who goes by Orphan these days, broke free from her deadly destiny and chose to instead become a hero for the people of Gotham City. As one of Batman's allies, Orphan has only become an even better fighter over the years. If any of the Gotham vigilantes was going to beat Batman in a one on one fight, it would be her.

Taking down Taskmaster wouldn't be her easiest fight, but it is one Orphan would win in time. While she isn't as big on gadgets as Batman is, she has something the Dark Knight and Taskmaster don't - a lifetime of fighting for survival.

2 Beats: Wildcat

When you want to learn the sweet science of boxing, there's no better teacher than Wildcat. A one-time heavyweight champion who became a superhero after being inspired by Green Lantern, Ted Grant is one of the toughest sons of a gun in the DC universe, and old age hasn't slowed him down a step.

But all of that won't help him against someone like Taskmaster. With his knowledge of just about every fighting style, a hero who is basically Rocky Balboa in a costume isn't much of a threat to Marvel's villain.

1 Gets Beat By: Karate Kid

Coming from one thousand years in the future, Karate Kid is the greatest martial artist of all time. After he mastered every style of martial arts on Earth, before he hit puberty, Karate Kid took to the stars to master every form of martial arts in the galaxy. While he has no actual powers, this member of the Legion of Super-Heroes once went one on one against Superboy and held his own, thanks to his knowledge of "Super Karate". Karate Kid isn't just able to beat up any living foe he comes across, he has also taken out forcefields made to protect ships from photon lasers with a single punch.

By mixing the millions of fighting styles that he knows, Karate Kid would never have to use the same strike against Taskmaster twice, making it impossible for the mercenary to be able to know what was coming next. Before too long, the villain from the Marvel universe would be kissing concrete while Karate Kid and Matter-Eater Lad go and get a milkshake.
