Black Widow has been one of the most important and impactful characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with her debut dating back to Iron Man 2, and from there she proceeded to grow as a hero, taking down Hydra alongside Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson, stopping Ultron, stepping into a leadership role post-Infinity War and eventually sacrificing herself in Avengers: Endgame to bring back the fallen. It's long overdue that she get her solo film, especially since she is one of the founding Avengers in the MCU and there would be no Phase 4 without her sacrifice.
Black Widow has gone through the ringer in terms of its release, being pushed back several times, with the film now set to premiere July 9, 2021, which is over a year later than it's initial date. Over all that time, more has come out about what the movie entails. Taking place before Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow is a spy thriller about Natasha Romanoff confronting her past while also dealing with her family and going up against Taskmaster.

Black Widow Cast, Crew & Interviews
Scarlett Johansson will return as the titular Avenger, and she will be joined by several comic characters, including Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and David Harbour's Alexei Shostakov, a.k.a. Red Guardian. Rachel Weisz will also appear as Melina Vostokoff, and O-T Fagbenle is Mason. The film will also feature the character Taskmaster, but it is not known who plays the antagonist. Plus, William Hurt is returning as General "Thunderbolt" Ross. Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland, story by Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision) and Ned Benson and screenplay by Eric Pearson.

Black Widow Easter Eggs and MCU References
Chronologically being placed in the midst of Phase 3, there are bound to be a lot of MCU references, especially since this takes place after the Sokovia Accords, which shook up the entire status quo of the Avengers and the world of heroes. Plus, with the film addressing Natasha's past, allusions to her backstory from past films, like in The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, can finally be properly expanded on and explored. Black Widow Theories and Rumors
