Marvel Studios recently announced that the project is in the works and with James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy threequel also taking up one of its three mystery spots in the 2020 calendar, it appears that this spy-thriller will fit in that year as well according to the Daily Mail.

The studio recently hired Blacklist and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure scribe Jac Schaeffer to pen the screenplay for Black Widow, with Avengers star Scarlett Johansson rumored to be set for a landmark deal. Fans have long clamored for this film revolving around the spy-turned-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who debuted in Iron Man 2 before joining the Avengers in safeguarding the world.

Few details are known about the plot but speculation is rife as to which other superheroes will appear, whether it be an origin story or set after her Infinity War appearance, or possibly, secretly, an all-female Avengers flick. While the film's still to be cemented, one thing's for certain and it's that fans are eager to see what other kinds of red Natasha Romanov has in that ledger of hers, especially as she's been seen to be just as secretive as mentor Nick Fury.
