Purported character breakdowns for Marvel's Black Widow may give us the first clues about the film's supporting players.
That Hashtag Show has details on characters that Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff will come across in her first solo outing. For starters, the film's villain is said to be a man described only as "exciting," and geared toward any actor in his 40s. The outlet speculates the villain may be Taskmaster or the Red Guardian.
A casting call has also been put out for four actors who can speak multiple languages and may be double agents. Two of the roles are said to be "contemporaries" of Natasha, the first being a "kick ass" woman with the sole description of a "female Bond." The second is a man with an emphasis on African, Middle Eastern, or East Indian actors. A European man and woman are also being searched for, both for actors aged in the 50-60s range. Another woman in her 50s is also being sought to play the film's secondary villain, described simply as "conniving." Finally, there's a "bookish American" in his late 20s known only as This Guy.
Black Widow is expected to be a prequel similar to Captain Marvel, detailing how Natasha operated as a spy for the KGB before defecting to S.H.I.E.L.D. The film is believed to start production by late February or early March.
Directed by Cate Shortland, Black Widow is expected to released May 1, 2020.
