Despite several theatrical release delays for Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Widow, the Natasha Romanoff-focused film hasn't changed at all since it was finished in 2020.

Black Widow director Cate Shortland confirmed to Empire that the MCU film has been finished for a whole year. In the period between its completion and its recently confirmed July release date, there have been no tweaks or edits made to the theatrical cut of the movie.

Black Widow was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on May 1, 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the film's release initially to November 2020. Later, the MCU film was further delayed to a May 2021 date, before landing its current release date of July 9.

Florence Pugh, who portrays Yelena Belova in the upcoming MCU film, shared her thoughts on the film's story, noting, "This film is about the abuse of women. It’s about how they get involuntary hysterectomies by the age of eight. It’s about girls who are stolen from around the world. It’s so painful, and it’s so important."

Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, O-T Fagbenle as Mason and Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff. The film arrives in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access July 9.
