The following contains spoilers for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, now in theaters.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has entered many transitional moments following the epic conclusion of The Infinity Saga. But one of its biggest changes came in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and the worst part is that this change may not be for the better. This is largely due to the appearance of Namor and the nation of Talokan and how their actions made Wakanda the enemies of the world when they did nothing wrong.

For now, the world is still tense over the events of Wakanda Forever, but retaliation may not be far behind. But because of the power that Wakanda has, turning on the benevolent nation may spark larger concerns that could affect other nations of extreme power. This could even include New Asgard, which features a town of gods and if so, may lead to a smaller but equally devastating Ragnarok for its people.

Why Is Wakanda in Danger in the MCU?

In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the death of T'Challa called for the Wakandans to limit their dealings with other nations. However, this decision immediately put the nation's trust in question with the United Nations. But for other countries, their fears led them to try and take vibranium by force, further cementing the distrust between them. However, the moment when Talokan appeared and Namor attacked American researchers put Wakanda in the crosshairs as both nations have connections to vibranium.

As the two kingdoms conducted their war, the rest of the world, who knew nothing of Talokan, believed Wakanda was to blame, and by the end of Wakanda Forever, a call for the country's destabilization had begun. Now, there's a chance that Wakanda may have to go to war with world superpowers to protect its resources and culture. But this could only be the first in a more systematic approach to depower potential threats to the world.

Could New Asgard Face Another Ragnarok?

Wakanda is a world power, even without being a nation of superpowered beings. That said, considering the fight they would put up against any that seek to hinder them, it's enough for any opposing force to consider the even greater threats of places that house superpowered people. The only place on Earth with a comparable threat would be New Asgard, which is filled with Asgardian gods. While Thor may not be there, there are still enough warriors that could theoretically put up a fight and, therefore, would be enough cause for the world's nations to retaliate.

In the Marvel Comics event series Siege by Brian Michael Bendis and Olivier Coipel, Norman Osborn's H.A.M.M.E.R. organization led an attack on New Asgard to destroy the newly relocated kingdom. While the battle wouldn't be nearly as massive, something similar could happen to New Asgard in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, forcing those who sought asylum to fight for their new home. Even scarier for the people living there peacefully, facing Ragnarok and Gorr has already traumatized them enough, and another war threatening their home would be just as scary as Ragnarok. In the end, Wakanda may not have done anything wrong in Wakanda Forever, but their fate could dictate the fate of many other powerful nations on Earth.

To see how Wakanda becomes isolated from the world again, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is in theaters now.
