A spectacular new variant cover for February 2018's Black Panther #170 provides fans with a close-up shot of the live-action version of the character.
Issue 170 of Marvel Comics' Black Panther is written by Ta-Nehisi Coates with art from Leonard Kirk, and one of the variant covers is aptly titled the "Movie Variant Cover." It provides fans with an ultra-clear shot of the Black Panther suit that T'Challa will don in his solo outing.
Issue #170 sees T'Challa finally confront Ras the Exhorter with his beloved Storm, though something he learns while on his adventures makes him question everything he believes in. This issue also features an exclusive interview with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler in celebration of the movie's impending release.
During the events of 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, T’Challa joined forces with Tony Stark to bring Barnes and Steve Rogers to justice. Once T’Challa learned the truth, he brought Barnes and Rogers to Wakanda, where the former is in cryo to ensure he doesn’t become anyone’s puppet ever again. As Black Panther opens, T’Challa is returning home to Wakanda to truly become king. Unfortunately for him, there are those that wish for the secretive nation to fall, including Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaw and Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Kilmonger.
Arriving in theaters on Feb. 16, 2018, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Letitia Wright, Danai Guira, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Martin Freeman, and Andy Serkis.
