Marvel has released a new trailer for their relaunch of Black Panther.

The trailer focuses on King T'Challa's arsenal of advanced technology, him using it to fight alongside the Avengers and his relationship with his sister, Shuri. The captions in the trailer read "What secrets has T'Challa kept from his own nation? When you engage in deception, even allies can become enemies and loyal soldiers turn bitter foes." It concludes by promising, "The truth will be revealed. The nation will be devastated."

Writer John Ridley spoke about his upcoming run writing for the King of Wakanda. "It's a hybrid espionage-Super Hero thriller, but at its core, it’s a love story," he explained. "And I don’t mean just romantic love, although there’s some of that as well. It’s love between friends."

He added that "We’re coming out of a summer where we saw Black people fighting for our rights, standing up, fighting in ways that we haven’t had to do in years. And it was really important to me after the year we had where we can have these conversations with Black people and we can use words like love and caring and hope and regret and all these really fundamental emotions that everybody has."

Ridley will be working with penciller Juann Cabal on Black Panther, who is part of Marvel's Stormbreakers program that highlights up and coming artists. Cabal previously did interiors for Guardians of the Galaxy and Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
