Official tracking estimates are currently unavailable, as we're still a ways out from release. Early tracking has suggested the Marvel Studio film will open between $90-$100 million. Should those estimates hold, that would put it ahead of Doctor Strange and Ant-Man, though it's worth noting those films were origin stories.
Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa already made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut with 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Since then, anticipation for his own solo film has been high, with fans selecting the film as one of their most anticipated movies of 2018 on Fandango.
Directed by Ryan Coogler from a script he wrote with Joe Robert Cole, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, and Forest Whitaker as Zuri. The Marvel Studio film arrives in theaters Feb. 16th.
