Yet another villainous character has been confirmed for Black Panther. Following the release of the film's teaser trailer, actress/singer Nabiyah Be posted a screenshot that shows her character Tilda Johnson, aka Nightshade, working with Michael B. Jordan's Erik Killmonger.

Fans familiar with the comics will note that Tilda Johnson is the real name of Nightshade, who debuted in Steve Englehart and Alan Weiss' Captain America #164 back in 1973. Like plenty of other comic book characters, Johnson has quite an odd backstory in the comics, one that has included turning convicts into werewolves with a serum she created. Given her specialties in biology, chemistry and robotics (just to name a few), the addition of the character could mark an exciting turn for Black Panther.

However, it is worth noting that this marks the third confirmed comic book villain to appear in T'Challa's first solo film, following Killmonger and M'Baku (Winston Duke). Nightshade's future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond Black Panther is unclear at this time. Unlike Duke, who has already been confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War, there's a lot we don't know regarding her role.

Opening February 16, 2018, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa, with Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown and John Kani.
