The following contains spoilers for Black Panther #14, on sale now from Marvel Comics.

T'Challa finds himself once again expelled from Wakanda in Marvel's Black Panther #14.

Black Panther #14 comes from writer John Ridley, artist Germán Peralta, color artist Jesus Aburtov and letterer VC's Joe Sabino. In Black Panther #13, T'Challa found his newly assembled team of heroes facing Captain America and a number of other Avengers over a disagreement on how to handle a situation involving a terrorist leader named Jhai. The issue ended with the sudden arrival of Namor, who opted to side with T'Challa rather than Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Black Panther #14 reveals T'Challa isn't all too eager to accept Namor's help; however, Wakandan Prime Minister Folasade cuts things off when she arrives via hologram. While she instructs Black Panther to leave Namor be, T'Challa protests and says he can't let it go given all the bloodshed between Wakanda and Atlantis. Folasade responds, "With you as king, no doubt the killing would continue. But you're not king. Not anymore. The diplomatic mission I was on was to sign a treaty that will guarantee peace between Wakanda and Atlantis for generations to come."

Folasade further explains that this treaty she just signed officially banishes T'Challa from his country for the rest of his life. "You are no longer just a former king," she tells him. "You are now a former citizen." While T'Challa is slightly taken aback, this isn't the first time he's been kicked out of his country. Earlier in Ridley's Black Panther run, T'Challa was kicked out of Wakanda and labeled a traitor after Akili and the Hatut Zeraze took charge. He, along with some help from Shuri, Storm and a few others, then returned to re-take control in a battle that resulted in Akili's death.

The Current Black Panther Run Is Nearing Its End

Black Panther #14 marks the penultimate issue in the current run before the title reboots later in 2023 with a new creative team that includes writer Eve L. Ewing and artist Chris Allen. Releasing March 8, 2023, the synopsis for Black Panther #15 reads, "THE EPIC FINALE OF JOHN RIDLEY’S GAME-CHANGING RUN! Finally, all things must come to a head! Jhai, T’Challa’s best friend and the sleeper agent whose assassination served as the catalyst for all of T’Challa’s recent troubles…is alive. Not only is he alive, but he seeks to seize control of the entire world, all in the name of Wakanda! Still injured, Black Panther rushes forward to take down the man who was once his closest comrade. But T’Challa knows he must still pay his pound of flesh for his role in bringing so much strife to fruition…"
