At the Critics' Choice Awards, both Black Panther and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse walked away with some major awards.

Early in the night, Sony Pictures Animation's Into the Spider-Verse won Best Animated Feature. That Sony Pictures Animation movie has dominated that category across awards season and has a solid shot at winning an Academy Award for the same category.

After going into the night with an astounding 12 nominations, Black Panther won three major awards. As Variety noted,  The Marvel Studios film won for Best Visual Effects in a crowded field. Ruth Carter won Best Costume Design for her outstanding work on the film. Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart won Best Production Design for their work on the movie.
