War for Wakanda, the newest expansion for online action game Marvel's Avengers, added the ability for its latest playable hero Black Panther to pet Hawkeye's dog, Lucky, aboard the superhero team's Helicarrier.

A video of T'Challa petting Lucky was shared by Twitter account @CanYouPetTheDog, which archives different video games in which players have the ability to pet a dog. If Marvel's Avengers players switch to Black Panther and travel to the Helicarrier, one of the game's hubs, they will be able to experience the King of Wakanda's unique petting animation. T'Challa will kneel down in front of Lucky and put both arms around it, one on his head and one on his back. Voiced by God of War actor Christopher Judge, T'Challa will say, "You are the one in charge around here, aren't you?"

Each of the now nine playable Avengers has a distinct animation for petting Lucky on the Helicarrier, ever since the pet's addition as part of the game's Future Imperfect story expansion alongside Clint Barton. Hawkeye will press his head to Lucky's as he pets him while Ms. Marvel gets noticeably excited, jumping up and down, before petting the dog. While appearing on the Helicarrier, Lucky also served as Hawkeye's companion during the Future Imperfect campaign, which saw Hawkeye and his fellow Avengers attempting to stop the apocalypse and battle the future version of the Hulk who adopts a new name: Maestro.

Now, the Avengers have teamed up again for the War for Wakanda update. Villain Ulysses Klaue, known as Klaw, invades Wakanda in order to frack the country's rare mineral Vibranium. This causes clusters of Corrupted Vibranium to pop up not only in Wakanda but all over the world. The current lineup of Avengers will travel to Wakanda to investigate, which will be the first time outside visitors have been in the country since the infamous A-Day event six years prior. Teaming up with Black Panther, the Avengers will fight Klaw, his right-hand man Crossbones, and an army of mercenaries to save Wakanda.

While no future roadmap has been provided past the newest War for Wakanda expansion, Marvel's Avengers Senior Designer Scott Walters recently assured fans that the next playable hero Spider-Man will be available before the end of the year. "Spider-Man, we've always planned to have that be a 2021 release, and we're still on track for that," Walters told CBR. "We'll have more announcements later on." Spider-Man was announced alongside the game's launch as a PlayStation exclusive character, causing much controversy. It is likely that Spider-Man will continue the tradition of having a unique petting animation for Lucky.

If you want to play your part in saving Wakanda and petting a very good boy, Marvel's Avengers is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Google Stadia.
