Marvel Studios released a video of the musical performance that introduced Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler at San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

Coogler, who also directed the 2018 Black Panther, was brought on stage during Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation following a musical performance by musicians Baaba Maal and Massamba Diop, who were accompanied by dancers and drummers. Following their performance, Coogler was brought on stage to introduce the first teaser for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Before introducing the trailer, however, Coogler first shared a memory of watching the first footage of Black Panther with the late Chadwick Boseman, saying that the actor was so excited he squeezed Coogler's arm so hard he couldn't move it. "I promise you, I can feel his hand on me right now.... the impact he made on this industry will be felt forever," Coogler said. Regarding Wakanda Forever, Coogler said, "It goes to new places in Wakanda we've never seen before, but it also goes too new corners of the MCU."

Marvel Studios then debuted the emotional, cinematic first teaser trailer for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The teaser introduced Tenoch Huerta as Namor the Sub-Mariner, offered a first look at the MCU's Atlantis and Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams/Ironheart, and teased a new hero to take up the Black Panther mantle.

Wakanda Forever began filming in Atlanta, GA on June 29, 2021, but production has paused several times since then due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The film serves as a sequel to 2018's Black Panther, which starred the late Boseman as King T'Challa/Black Panther. Wakanda Forever's plot was restructured following Boseman's death in 2020. "It's clearly very emotional without Chad," Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said shortly before Wakanda Forever began production. "But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We're going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud."

The Black Panther sequel will see Angela Bassett reprise her role as Queen Ramonda, as well as Letitia Wright as Shuri, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, Winston Duke as M'Baku, Danai Gurira as Okoye and Martin Freeman as Everett Ross. An official synopsis released by Marvel following the trailer debut revealed that Wakanda Forever will follow these characters as they "fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death." The film also stars Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli."

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters Nov. 11, 2022.
