The official synopsis for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been released.

The synopsis promises to "explore the incomparable world of Wakanda, and all of the rich and varied characters introduced in the first film." Which characters will be the focus of the new film remains to be seen, but with Wakanda containing multiple factions -- including the Dora Milaje and the War Dogs, who serve as Wakanda's intelligence/espionage agency -- there are plenty of angles for writer/director Ryan Coogler to explore.

Lupitia Nyong'o previously spoke about how Coogler "reshaped" Wakanda Forever to pay his respects to the late Chadwick Boseman. "But at the same time, we have a leader in Ryan, who feels very much like we do, who feels the loss in a very, very real way as well," Nyong'o said. "And his idea, the way which he has reshaped the second movie is so respectful of the loss we’ve all experienced as a cast and as a world. So it feels spiritually and emotionally correct to do this." Coogler also plans to expand upon the world of Black Panther via a Wakanda series on Disney+, as part of a five-year deal he signed with Disney under his Proximity Media banner.

The official title for Wakanda Forever was revealed during a new promo video from Marvel Studios, which made its debut on Monday. The video outlines Marvel Studios' slate of films for the remainder of 2021 and the next two years, which includes Wakanda Forever and Jon Watts' Fantastic Four.
