A prominent professional wrestling journalist has put the kibosh on rumors that WWE superstar Becky Lynch has joined the cast of Marvel Studios' Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It was first reported back on May 2, 2020 that Lynch (real name Rebecca Quin) had been cast in an undisclosed Marvel film. In light of this, Murphy's Multiverse published a report earlier today claiming that said film could actually be Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the upcoming sequel to 2018's Black Panther. Murphy's Multiverse shared a leaked photo from the set of Wakanda Forever featuring a costumed cast member who somewhat resembles Lynch, claiming it could possibly be her.RELATED: Black Panther 2 Star Letitia Wright's Unvaxxed Status May Further Delay FilmingThis caught the attention of Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, who was quick to debunk the rumor on Twitter. "Not that you all needed this confirmation, but I've confirmed that isn't Becky Lynch," Sapp wrote.

Onlookers have noticed other factual errors and oddly-worded statements in Murphy's Multiverse's initial report, such as the outlet's claim that after taking a break from the ring to marry fellow wrestler Seth Rollins (Colby Lopez) and have a baby, Lynch "promptly returned" to WWE to compete at WrestleMania and win the WWE Raw Women's Championship in controversial fashion.

In reality, Lynch was away from WWE for about 15 months, having stepped away from the ring on May 11, 2020 after announcing her pregnancy. Lynch and Rollins welcomed their first child into the world the following December, though weren't officially married until this past June -- over a year after Lynch announced her sabbatical.

Furthermore, when Lynch finally did return to the ring this past August, it was not at WrestleMania, but at SummerSlam. And while Lynch's SummerSlam victory over Bianca Belair was certainly controversial, it was for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship, not the Raw Women's Championship. Lynch didn't reclaim the Raw Women's title until October, when she exchanged belts with Charlotte Flair when the two swapped shows during the 2021 WWE Draft.

All that being said, of course, it would certainly not be surprising if Lynch were to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe at some point in the future. In addition to the May 2, 2020 report and her existing megastar status in WWE, Lynch's star has certainly been on the rise in the world of mainstream entertainment.

The wrestler made her feature film debut in the 2018 WWE Studios film The Marine 6: Close Quarters and is also set to give a voice performance in the 2022 animated film Rumble. She also appeared as a stunt double in an episode of History's 2013 television series Vikings, in addition to playing herself in the Season 5 premiere of the Showtime drama Billions last year.

Furthermore, Lynch would not be the first WWE star to join the MCU, with prospective WWE hall-of-famer Dave Bautista (aka Batista) having played Drax the Destroyer in the franchise since 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy. Other wrestling stars have entered the world of superhero cinema as well, with John Cena and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joining the DC Extended Universe as Peacemaker and Black Adam, respectively. Meanwhile, Sasha Banks -- who, along with Lynch, was one of NXT's Four Horsewomen -- recently played the character of Koska Reeves in the second season of Disney+'s Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian.

However, while Lynch may be involved in a Marvel film someday, we can confidently say that, as it stands, she will not be in Wakanda Forever.
