Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Martin Freeman, who will reprise his role as Everett K. Ross, recently praised the upcoming sequel's script, but did not disclose any details about its plot.

While appearing on The One Show, Freeman was asked by host Ronan Keating if there were any tidbits he could provide regarding what fans could expect from Wakanda Forever. "No, apart from the fact that it's happening because as you will have guessed Marvel have sworn us all to secrecy," Freeman said.

"I've read the script," Freeman said. "It's very good and we will be doing it at some point I guess in the next several months, I'll be going to the States and doing that. But I'm very excited about it, yeah."

Chadwick Boseman first appeared as King T'Challa/Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Following his death last year from stage IV colon cancer, Marvel Studios confirmed that the character would not be recast, nor would Wakanda Forever have Boseman's likeness recreated via CGI. In addition, Freeman's costar Lupita Nyong'o, who plays Nakia, recently stated that writer and director Ryan Coogler "reshaped" Wakanda Forever in a way that respects Boseman's legacy.

"And [Coogler's] idea, the way which he has reshaped the second movie is so respectful of the loss we've all experienced as a cast and as a world," Nyong'o said. "So it feels spiritually and emotionally correct to do this. And hopefully, what I do look forward to, is getting back together and honoring what he started with us and holding his light through it. Because he left us a lot of light that we're still going to be bathing in. I know that for sure."

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever arrives in theaters July 8, 2022.
