The fourth season of Black Mirror, Netflix's often dark but always technologically-savvy sci-fi anthology series, is on its way, and the first images show that a classic franchise will be the (likely unnamed) subject matter of one episode.
The first photo from Season 4, courtesy of IGN, comes from an episode entitled "USS Callister," appears to show the bridge and crew from a Star Trek-like TV show. The episode is written by Charlie Brooker and William Bridges, the pair behind the Season 3 episode "Shut Up and Dance." No plot details are currently available for this or any other episode, but we do know it will star Jesse Plemons (Fargo), Cristin Milioti (The Wolf of Wall Street), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld), Michaela Coel (Monsters: Dark Continent) and will be directed by Doctor Who veteran Toby Haynes.
The other image comes from an episode entitled "Archangel". Directed by Jodie Foster, it is written by Charlie Brooker and stars Rosemarie Dewitt (La La Land), Brenna Harding (A Place to Call Home) and Owen Teague (Bloodline).
The season's remaining four episodes, all penned by Charlie Brooker, include "Crocodile", which stars Andrea Riseborough (Birdman), Andrew Gower (Outlander), Kiran Sonia Sawar (Murdered By My Father) and directed by John Hellcat, "Hang the DJ", which stars Georgina Campbell (Flowers), Joe Cole (Green Room), George Blagden (Vikings) and directed by Game of Thrones' Tim Van Patten, "Metalhead", which stars Maxine Peake (The Theory Of Everything), Jake Davies (The Missing), Clint Dyer (Hope Springs) and directed by American Gods' David Slade and "Black Museum", which stars Douglas Hodge (Catastrophe), Letitia Wright (Humans), Babs Olusanmokun (The Defenders) and directed by Colm McCarthy.
Although its exact release date has yet to be confirmed, Black Mirror Season 4 is expected to hit Netflix in late 2017.
