Just in time for Halloween, Charlie Brooker and Netflix are giving the world something to really scare them: the third season of "Black Mirror."

The celebrated sci-fi anthology series, which tells taut, standalone stories that tap "into our collective unease with the modern world," returns with six new episodes designed to warp the mind and unsettle the stomach.

Debuting in December 2011 on Britain’s Channel 4, the dystopian drama has been described as “a contemporary British reworking of ‘The Twilight Zone’” and a twisted parable for the Twitter age that looks at how technology has transformed virtually every aspect of our lives. Netflix announced an order of 12 new episodes in September 2015.

Directors for the third season include Joe Wright ("Atonement," "Pride & Prejudice), Dan Trachtenberg ("10 Cloverfield Lane") and James Watkins ("The Woman in Black"). While double the length of previous seasons, if this trailer is to be believed, the six new episodes are every bit as unnerving and surprising as those of previous seasons.

Written by Brooker, the third season of "Black Mirror" stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kelly Macdonald, Alice Eve, Jerome Flynn, Wyatt Russell and more. The full season will be available to stream on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 21.
