Comics publisher Black Mask Studios is donating 100% of webstore profits on a select number of its titles to protestor bail funds, in response to protests being held worldwide over the death of George Floyd, systemic racism and police violence.
"Update: We are donating 100% of profits for webstore sales of BLACK, Calexit, Black [AF]: Devil's Dye, Black [AF]: Widows And Orphans, and Young Terrorists to bail funds for protestors. (Retailers: This includes wholesale orders)," a tweet from the publisher reads.
In subsequent tweets, Black Mask clarified that the profits for these comics would only include sales on its webstore and not sales on the Amazon-owned ComiXology. Showing his own support of Black Mask’s decision, Adam Egypt Mortimer, writer for the comic Ballistic, urged Black Mask to donate proceeds from his own comic sales, to which Black Mask responded that it would compile a list of other creators that wanted to show their support this way.
