Black Lightning's Jennifer Pierce is a superhero at last. Following the series' Season 2 mid-winter finale, The CW unveiled an official first look at Jennifer's very own Lightning costume.
Since Jennifer got her powers last season, she has been reluctant to use them. Worse, she's had a lot of trouble controlling them, so much so that her parents Jefferson and Lynn ultimately banned her from leaving the house. Feeling trapped, Jennifer decided to pursue a forbidden relationship with Khalil, aka Painkiller, and even went on the run with him after she saved him from Tobias Whale.
It seems Jennifer's time on the lam will inspire her to accept her powers and become a superhero, just like her father and sister Anissa. As pictured above, Jennifer's costume echoes her sister's, with a black body suit covered in yellow plating. Unlike her sister's costume, however, it has lightning-inspired designs -- fitting, since she will assume the moniker "Lightning," as in the comics.
Airing Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Black Lightning stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce, Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce/Thunder, Christine Adams as Lynn Stewart, Marvin “Krondon” Jones III as Tobias Whale, Damon Gupton as Billy Henderson, James Remar as Peter Gambi and Jordan Calloway as Khalil/Painkiller.
